(6) Find volume of the region cut from the solid cylinder x2 + y 2 ≤ 4, by the sphere
x2 + y 2 + z 2 = 16. [5]

(7) (i) Use Stoke’s theorem to evaluate S curl F~ .n̂ dσ, where F~ = y î − xĵ + yx3 k̂ and

(8) Show that F~ = (ex cos y + yz)î + (xz − ex sin y)ĵ + (xy + z)k̂ is conservative and find
a potential function for F~ . [5]

(9) (i) Find the maximum value of the directional derivative of f (x, y, z) = x2 −2y 2 +4z 2
at the point (1, 1, −1). [2]
(ii) Prove that ∇×(f~g ) = (∇f )×~g +f (∇×~g ), where f is a scalar valued function. [3]

(10) (i) Find the maximum and minimum values of f (x, y, z) = x − 2y + 5z on the sphere
x2 + y 2 + z 2 = 30, by using Lagrange’s multiplier method. [2.5]

(ii) Find the absolute maxima and minima of f (x, y) = x + xy + y − 6x + 2 on the
rectangular plate 0 ≤ x ≤ 5, −3 ≤ y ≤ 0. [2.5]
