    Technical Specification of “Oxy‐Acetylene Gas Cutting Set comprising Regulators, Blow 

    Pipe, Flashback Arrestors, Cutting Machine, Nozzles, Hoses and Connectors” 

    The Oxy‐Acetylene gas cutting set shall comprise of the following items: 

    1. Regulators 
    2. Cutting Blowpipe 
    3. Flashback arrestors for cylinders 
    4. Torch mounted Flashback arrestors 
    5. Cutting Machine 
    6. Cutting Nozzles 
    7. Hoses with Connectors 

    The detailed specifications of all of the above items are as follows: 

    1. Regulators: (1 no. for Oxygen gas and 1 no. for Acetylene gas) 
    1.1. Features: 
    (i) Double Stage Regulators conforming to IS 6901‐2009 with ISI Certification mark 
    (ii) For use in indoor, as well as, outdoor conditions 
    (iii) Stainless steel diaphragm in first stage to absorb shock of inlet pressure and flexible rubber 
    diaphragm in second stage for fine gas control 
    (iv) Shall have two pressure gauges – one to indicate the Inlet Pressure and the other to 
    indicate the Outlet Pressure 
    (v) Shall have Pressure Adjusting Knob for adjusting working pressure 
    (vi) Second stage plenum chamber volume shall be at least five times than first stage for stable 
    flow characteristics 
    (vii) Forged brass body and cap spring 
    (viii) Valve shall be made of fire retardant material 
    (ix) Shall have safety valve and inlet filter

    2. Cutting Blowpipe: (1 no.) 
    2.1. Features: 
    (i) Injector type hand cutting blowpipe for use with dissolved Acetylene Cylinders 
    (ii) Conform to IS 7653‐1975 with ISI Certification mark 
    (iii) Body and head made of forged brass 
    (iv) Swaged nozzles to ensure parallel beam of heating flame 
    (v) Shall consist of Blowpipe‐1 no., Cutting Nozzle (3/64")‐1 no., Nut & Nipple for hose 
    connection of both Oxygen and Acetylene gas 
    2.2. Specifications:

    3. Flashback arrestors for cylinders: (1 no. for Oxygen Cylinder and 1 no for Acetylene Cylinder) 
    (i) Flame arrestor with non‐return valve shall quench flashbacks and shall not allow the 
    reverse flow of gases 
    (ii) Shall have temperature sensitive cut‐off valve to quench flashbacks and stop the gas flow 
    before the upstream gas is ignited. 
    (iii) Shall have pressure sensitive cut‐off valve. The pressure‐sensitive cut‐off valve shall remain 
    closed until it is manually reset. 
    (iv) Shall be compatible with the regulators (Sl. No. 1) 
     
    4. Torch mounted Flashback arrestors: (1 no. for Oxygen gas and 1 no for Acetylene gas) 
    (i) Shall arrest the flame and avoid the reverse flow of gases 
    (ii) Compatible with Cutting Blowpipe (SL. No. 2) 
     
    5. Cutting Machine: (1 no.) 
    5.1. Features: 
    (i) Motorized cutting machine that can produce straight and circular cuts with square or bevel 
    edge (necessary track of 1.8m length and circle cutting attachments shall be part of supply) 
    (ii) Light weight with a wrap round handle for easy portability and protection 
    (iii) Body made of pressed steel with wrap/round handle and fibre glass heat deflector 
    (iv) Injector type Oxy‐Acetylene gas cutter, specially designed to prevent backfire, fitted with 
    suitable nozzles for cutting up to 150mm thick MS plates 
    (v) Cutter can be swivelled for bevel cuts 
    (vi) 220V fractional HP geared reversible motor with forward‐reverse toggle switch

    Two hoses, for Oxygen and Acetylene gas, each of 10m length, factory fitted with necessary nut 
    and nipples at both ends with any other necessary adaptors required for gas connection of Blow 
    pipe (Sl. No. 1) or Cutting Machine (Sl. No. 5) with regulator through the flashback arrestors 
    shall be supplied.

    Special Requirements: 
    1. Items shall be delivered to Central Stores of NFC, Hyderabad. 
    2. Items shall be of reputed make and catalogue/brochure/datasheet of all the items indicating the 
    presence of all the features/specifications shall be submitted with quotation. 
    3. All the items shall be supplied as a set. Part offer will not be considered. Purchase order will be 
    placed on a single party for supply of the complete set. 
    4. Vendor Qualification: The supplier quoting for the items shall have the experience of supplying 
    such items in the past three years and proof of such two supplies shall be submitted along with 
    quotation. 
    5. Acceptance criterion: Availability of all the features of all the items as cited in this specification 
    by the Purchaser and functional testing (gas cutting upto full range of the equipment) at NFC. 
    6. 100% payment will be made only after acceptance of the items at NFC, Hyderabad.
