Vide Railway Board’s letter No. 2009/ Elect(G)/150/ 13/ Pt., dated 18/11/2015 ( web link:

5.pdf ). Policy guidelines for harnessing of 50 MW solar rooftop plants at railway premises were
issued. This is to be done by all Zonal Railways/PUs as per the capacity allocated to them. The
investment will be made by the developer and Zonal Railways will buy the power for a period of
25 years under a power purchase agreement. At the end of 25th year, the solar power plant will
be transferred to the Railways.

2. Subsequently, Railway Board vide letter No. 2009/Elect (G)/150/13/Pt ) on 30/11/2015 has
issued the Model Bid Documents (RFQ, RFP and PPA) for harnessing 50 MW solar energy on
rooftops of Railways buildings/stations/ platforms/sheds/workshops or any other suitable rooftop

3. Accordingly, Zonal Railways have come out with the Notice for Inviting Tenders and Request
for Qualification as per the capacity allocated to them as shown in the attached table.
