3 Proctoring an Exam

NOTE: If your login account has not been setup with Proctor
Access, please disregard this section.

3a) What is a Proctor

To maintain the integrity of our online testing system, taking
a Final Exam requires a Proctor to log the user in. A proctor
account is created that will serve a dual purpose: Provide
access to the system and provide the ability to proctor an
exam. Even though the account will allow the login to
Courseline, the account might not have courses available as
this account is strictly meant to authorize exams for students.

The following screen will be presented to the student/user

when accessing the exam:

Authentication
1 - The Student/User will
need to enter his/her system
password.

2 - The Proctor will need to

enter his/her Username and
Password.

3 - Select the “Take Test” to

start the exam.

Once both of these

credentials are verified by
the system, the exam will
populate the screen for the
student to begin the exam.

3b) Responsibilities as a Proctor
–– Do not provide anyone with your username and
password, as this is your access to our system which has
permissions only you are authorized to use.
–– Verify that the user you are proctoring is the one taking
the exam (and not someone else taking it for him/her).
We ask that you verify the user’s ID if you do not know
them personally.
–– We also ask that you ensure the user does not have any
notes, books, or other materials that could be used for
cheating purposes.
–– To the best of your ability, make sure the user does not
record the exam information.

While you must be present to grant access to the exam at

the terminal the user is using, you are not required to watch
over him/her for the entire duration of the exam. However,
you are welcome to do so, if you so choose.
