     Accessions and registers requests on patient specimens for tests and products. Performs blood
    group and rh type (ABO/RH) and antibody identification by using reagents, tubes, centrifuge to read
    and interpret results and then enter the results into the computer. Performs cross-match of patient
    specimens and donor blood for transfusion by using tubes, centrifuge, and specimens from patients
    and donors. Performs all other immunohematology tests as requested according to standard
    operating procedure
     Documents corrective action taken when test systems deviate from the Laboratory’s established
    performance specifications Issues blood products upon request by performing an accurate clerical
    check of patient and donor information by cross-referencing requests with Blood Bank files
    according to standard operating procedure
     Maintains cleanliness of work and surrounding area, and follows established safety and infection
    control procedures Maintains sufficient supplies at work station
     Observes and evaluates test results, and records necessary data on laboratory reports and notifies
    supervisory staff in time
     Performs all tests within assigned section, according to procedure manual , with accuracy, precision
    and within productivity standards
     Performs basic troubleshooting and preventative maintenance activities for laboratory instruments.
     Prepares and labels components made from blood such as packed red cells, washing red cells,
    thawing frozen products, pooling products and irradiating products according to standard operating
    procedure
     Prioritizes and processes blood samples and performs various Blood Bank functions as elaborated
    in Blood Bank Policy and Procedure manual. Issues blood components on timely basis following
    established guidelines

    related to training of students, new employees, etc., and participates in ongoing education
