The document provides a job hazard analysis for hot work and welding during the construction/rehabilitation of an existing terminal building. It identifies potential hazards such as fire, exposure to fumes, burns, falling sparks/hot bids, and gas leakage. It also lists control measures to mitigate each hazard, including ensuring the worksite is free of flammables, having fire extinguishers and a fire watcher present, proper ventilation and PPE, defect-free welding equipment, keeping cylinders away from hot work, and proper storage of cylinders.

Job Hazard Analysis
PROJECT / TASK: Hot work/ welding arc and CONTRACTOR: VTLC JOB No.: cutting
SUPERVISOR: LOCATION: Gensan City international Airport DATE: 11-18-19
JOB STEP. HAZARDS CONTROL MEASURES ACTION BY
a) Presence of flammable Ensure the worksite is free
Planning / toxic vapour or liquid from flammable / toxic vapour or liquid by safe preparation (isolation)
b) Fire and explosion Keep fire extinguishers in
ready condition Trained fire watcher.
a) Radiation from UV / IR Wear protective PPE / goggles
Cutting / Welding Rays (Flash Eye)
b) Exposure to Welding Ensure proper ventilation and
Fumes fume extraction equipment in case of welding inside an enclosure
c) Defective tools Ensure the welding equipment
(torch, cable, electrode holder, transformer, generator, cable connector, plugs, sockets etc) are free from defect and earthed as needed.
d) Burns Wear long sleeved coverall,
leather apron; welder’s hood.
e) Falling of Sparks / hot Enclose the welding area
bids through wool blanket
f) Flash back fire Provide a check valve (flash
back arrester) between oxy- acetylene/LPG hose & gas regulator.
g) Electric Shock Locate the emergency stop
switch for immediate power isolation. Ensure the cables have proper insulation and connector as well as termination joints are safe for the purpose.
h) Cylinder near the Hot Keep oxy – acetylene/LPG
Work area cylinders at least 5 meters away from hot work area. Isolate the cylinder when not in use.
i) Fall from platform installed proper life line and
use appropriate PPE.(safety harness) a) Scattered Material Ensure proper wind up & Wind up and housekeeping at worksite. Housekeeping The accessories (torch, cable, electrode holder) not being used must be disconnected from transformer / generator and stored separately.
Storage area a) Gas leakage Fully cylinder shall be stored
vertically. Check if there is a fume smell.
