him, and told him that he may not enter for he looked of rugs and mud.

Narrator: The guard stepped aside and open the gates to let him in.

Makato: Thank you sire, here, I give you this bunch of lettuce as the fruit of your kind gesture.

Pra Ruang: Now, what may lettuce have to do with a Cowrie Shell?

Makato: Weeks ago, when you gave me the cowrie shell, I went straight to the market to see what it is worth and I saw the pile of
lettuce seeds and asked the kind lady if a cowrie shell is enough for one pile, then she said “oh you poor boy, a cowrie shell is worth
so little, and it may not be for one pile” so I said “what if I dip my finger and leave with whatever may stick to it” then she laughed
and said “ok”. I got my wet finger and dipped it into the pile and left happily with a bunch of lettuce seeds.

Pra Ruang: Is that so? How a wise boy you are, well then, I would only accept these if you would accept my offer.

Makato: I would happily accept that Bidā Pra Ruang.

and Makato rushed to him and called for help.

than what it is worth.

still there with the same vendor.

Lady: oh yes, I remember that wise boy.

Makato: May I know if the Cowrie Shell is still here?

Lady: Yes it is, I kept it in remembrance of the young boy who bought from me with a wet finger.

Narrator: The lady handed him the shell and Makato looked and saw.

Makato; Its a letter

-Reads the letter-

Daughter of the king: What does it say?

Makato: “I Pra Pruang, king of the land Sukhothai, present this testament as a say that who may ever be the one to marry my
daughter shall be my most trusted and loyal servant whom thy shall be king of the land if ever I may part”
