Factory Radio Removal


Radio replacement does not apply to vehicles with
factory-equipped navigation. FIGURE 1 FIGURE 2

1. Before proceeding, eject discs from factory unit if


present.
SYNC Panel
Rubber Mat
2. Set parking brake and disconnect negative battery
cable to prevent any electrical short.

3. Open lower dash storage tray.

4. Push out SYNC panel (or blank plate) from behind


to release clips. Disconnect harnesses and
remove (Figure 1).

5. Remove one (1) 7mm screw exposed by removal


of SYNC panel or blank plate (Figure 1).

6. Pull up rubber mat in front of dash display and


remove two (2) exposed 7mm screws
(Figures 2 & 3). FIGURE 3 FIGURE 4

7. Pry out inside edges of both radio side panels to


release clips, but do not remove (Figure 4).

8. Pry out receiver faceplate or trimpanel to release six (6) clips.
Disconnect wiring harnesses and remove faceplate or panel (Figure 5). FIGURE 5

9a. Integrated Radio:


Receiver Faceplate
Remove four (4) 7mm screws securing radio/chassis to dash. Disconnect
wiring harnesses and antenna. Remove radio/chassis (Figure 6).

9b. Non-Integrated Radio:


Remove four (4) 7mm screws securing radio. Disconnect wiring
harnesses and antenna. Remove radio (Figure 7).

OEM Integration
This page addresses integrating aftermarket accessories such as
R
CD Changers, Auxiliary Input Adaptors, iPod Adaptors, etc., with a
factory radio system.

1. Remove factory radio following instructions on the previous page.

2. Follow instructions supplied with the accessory device.

3. Connect optional adaptor to input as shown.

4. Test operation of the adaptor and reassemble dash by reversing removal steps.

Receiver Installation
• Check to make sure the Crutchfield receiver wiring
adaptor plugs into the vehicle receiver harness.
If the Crutchfield adaptor is incorrect, please call our
Technical Support Department at 1-800-955-9094.

A Standard DIN receiver is shown. A


Double-DIN receiver may also be
installed following these same steps.
Radio replacement does not apply to
vehicles with factory-equipped
navigation.

1. Secure receiver to mounting bracket


following instructions supplied with the
dash kit.

2. Make wiring connections following


instructions supplied with the receiver
wiring interface received from Receiver Assembly
Crutchfield.

3. Hold receiver assembly near dash.


Connect receiver wiring interface to
vehicle harness. Using the antenna
adaptor, plug antenna lead into rear of
receiver.

4. Slide assembly into dash and secure with


screws previously removed.

5. Test operation and reassemble dash by


reversing removal steps.

! IMPORTANT
No speaker wiring adaptor is available for this location at this time

splice wires.
Door Gasket Pillar Trim
No speaker adaptor bracket is available for this location from
Crutchfield. A mounting bracket must be fabricated in order
to install an aftermarket speaker.

Driver’s Side Tweeter Removal & Installation:

1. Pull down door gasket along front pillar (Figure 1).

2. Pry out top of pillar trim to release clip (Figure 2).

3. Pry off dash end cap to access tweeter wiring


harness. Disconnect harness and remove pillar
trim (Figure 3). This step repeated on the next page
for the passenger’s side and is shown in Figure 5.

4. Remove two (2) phillips screws securing


tweeter/grille assembly to pillar trim. Remove
assembly (Figure 4).

5. Fabricate a speaker mounting bracket and secure


speaker to bracket.

6. Secure speaker/bracket assembly to location with


screws previously removed.

7. Make wiring connections following instructions on
page 15. Return to this page to complete installation. FIGURE 4
8. Reinstall pillar trim, dash end caps and door gasket.

1. Pry open two (2) screw covers on pillar pull handle and remove one (1)
7mm screw at each location (Figures 6 & 7).

2. Follow steps 1-8 for the driver’s side.

! IMPORTANT
No speaker wiring adaptor is available at this time from Crutchfield
for this speaker location. It will be necessary to splice wires in FIGURE 1
order to install an aftermarket speaker.

1. Pry up rubber mat on top of dash to remove


(Figure 1).

2. Remove two (2) 7mm screws from speaker/grille


assembly exposed by removal of rubber mat. Speaker/Grille Assembly
Lift grille assembly, disconnect and remove Rubber Mat
(Figure 2).

3. Remove four (4) 5.5mm screws securing speaker
grille and remove (Figure 3).

4. Use pliers to break off alignment tabs on rear of


speaker grille to allow new speaker to fit properly
(Figure 4).

5. Make wiring connections following instructions


on page 15. Return to this page to complete

6. Secure new speaker to grille and secure


assembly to dash with screws previously
removed.

7. Test speaker operation and reinstall rubber mat.

1. Pry out screw cover behind door release and


remove one (1) exposed 8mm screw (Figure 1).

2. Pry out screw cover in door pull cup and
remove one (1) 7mm screw (Figure 2 - vehicles
with power options, Figure 3 - vehicles with
manual windows).

4a. If equipped with power options:


Pry up power options switch panel to release
two (2) clips, disconnect wiring harnesses and
remove switch panel (Figure 5).

4b. If equipped with manual windows:

Torx T20 screw to remove handle (Figure 6). Door Release Cable
5. Lift door panel to clear ten (10) “legs”.
Disconnect wiring harnesses and door release
cable to remove panel (Figures 7 & 8).

6. Remove four (4) 5.5mm screws securing


speaker. Pull out speaker, disconnect and
remove (Figure 9).

7. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of


replacement speaker to vehicle speaker Window Crank Cover
harness. Secure speaker with screws
previously removed.

8. Test speaker operation and reinstall door panel


by reversing removal steps.

1. Starting at the top, pry out “sail” panel to


release two (2) clips and remove panel

2. Remove one (1) 6mm screw exposed by
removal of “sail” panel (Figure 2).

3. Pry out screw cover behind door release and


remove one (1) exposed 8mm screw (Figure 3).

4. Remove two (2) 1/4” screws along bottom “Sail” Panel Screw Cover
edge of door panel (Figure 4).

5. Pry up power options switch panel to release


two (2) clips, disconnect wiring harnesses and
remove switch panel (Figure 5).

6. Lift door panel to clear eight (8) “legs”.
Disconnect wiring harnesses and door FIGURE 7
release cable to remove panel (Figure 6).

7. Remove four (4) 5.5mm screws securing


speaker. Pull out speaker, disconnect and
remove (Figures 7 & 8).

8. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of


replacement speaker to vehicle speaker Standard Speaker
harness. Secure speaker with screws
previously removed.

9. Test speaker operation and reinstall door


panel by reversing removal steps.

1. Pry off window rear trim to release clips.


Remove one (1) exposed 6mm screw

2. Pry off seat belt anchor cover and remove one
(1) Torx T50 bolt. Allow seat belt to hang
(Figure 3).

3. Starting at the rear edge, pry out window front


trim to release four (4) clips, then pull toward
front of vehicle to remove (Figure 4).

4. Remove one (1) 6mm screw exposed by


removal of window front trim (Figure 5). Window Rear Trim Seat Belt Anchor Cover
5. Pry off screw cover behind door release and
remove two (2) exposed 10mm screws
(Figure 6).

6. Pry off two (2) screw covers on front edge of
door panel and remove one (1) 6mm screw FIGURE 7 FIGURE 8
from each location (Figure 7).

7. Remove one (1) 6mm screw at bottom edge of


door panel (Figure 8).

8. Lift door panel to release seven (7) “legs”.
Disconnect wiring harness and remove door
panel (Figure 9).

9. Remove four (4) 5.5mm screws securing


speaker. Pull out speaker, disconnect and
remove (Figure 10).

10. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of replacement


speaker to vehicle speaker harness. Secure
speaker with screws previously removed.

Wire Splicing Guide These methods can be used to make wiring connections if no receiver or speaker wiring adaptor is available.
Wire color information (if available) can be found on the next page.

Factory harness is removed. Save New speaker wires are spliced into
CRIMP METHOD harness if it is to be reconnected in
the future by this method.
