Mathematics originated from counting, which prehistoric humans and other species can do. Over millennia, mathematical concepts like equations, geometry, negative numbers, and zero were developed in ancient cultures. Mathematics involves finding patterns and order, representing patterns with language, and theories. Modern math is divided into pure and applied fields; pure math explores concepts for their own sake while applied math solves real-world problems.

The Map of Mathematics // Math is the Hidden Secret to Understanding the World
1. Three things that I significantly learn from the video clip.
I have discovered from the video that mathematics originates from the counting. The video also shows that counting is not simply a human ability. There are also other species that can count. Evidence from prehistoric times of human counting goes back to bones created by control points. Over the years there have been several innovations in the first equation of the Egyptians, the ancient Greeks have made strides in many sectors, including geometry and numerology and negative numbers in China. Zero was used as a number first in India. Then Persian mathematicians made more progress in the Golden Age of Islam and published the first book on algebra. Mathematics is about finding patterns. Such patterns are for a relation, order, regularity and certain rules governing what we see. It also implies the representation of patterns in a language. Language is essential in mathematics. There are also theories and a number of possibilities to play with and just see what happens. Finally, math is about doing incredible things. In the Renaissance, mathematics and science boomed. Modern mathematics can be divided into two fields: mathematics analysis for its own sake, and applied mathematics: mathematics evolves to help solve a problem in the real world. How often something so abstract ends up as very helpful is fascinating. Pure mathematics alone is still very important because it can be interesting and can have a certain elegance and beauty that almost becomes like art by itself.
2. Three things that are still unclear to me.
Study of changes Properties of mathematics The notation system for tap dancing 3. I used to think that I used to think that even though you do not change your perspective, you can still understand things. However, watching all the clips, I now realize that if an individual does not have the ability to change perspectives, then that individual doesn’t have understanding. A lot of people perceive mathematics as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percent, geometry and many other terminologies in math. We can represent anything with mathematics in a pattern. Math is not as boring as we think since that is how we see it when we were in school. Mathematics is fun and as the speaker said, mathematics makes you do amazing things. People enable understanding since one must generalize over everything you see and hear, and if given another perspective, it will be much easier.
4. Three questions that I want to ask about the video clips
Which is better, pure mathematics or applies mathematics? Why? How is 4/3 an amazing number? How is mathematics hidden and what does it do to make us understand the world?
