WELLNESS AND RELAXATION TECHNIQUES

BREATH FOCUS

This -called
"stress response" is a normal reaction to threatening situations, honed in our prehistory
to help us survive threats like an animal attack or a flood. Today, we rarely face these
physical dangers, but challenging situations in daily life can set off the stress response.
We can't avoid all sources of stress in our lives, nor would we want to. But we can
develop healthier ways of responding to them.

Focus breathing is a term that describes the change in focal length that occurs as a
result of adjusting the focusing distance of a lens. It is a common issue that occurs on
many photographic lenses. As focus is adjusted from close focus to infinity, focus
breathing causes noticeable changes in both angle of view and magnification.

quickly and easily manage stress and reduce tension in your body. It's virtually as easy
as indulging in a vivid daydream and, with practice, this technique can help you to
better access your inner wisdom.
Visualization And Guided Imagery Techniques For Stress Reduction
1. Find a private calm space and make yourself comfortable.
2. Take a few slow and deep breaths to center your attention and calm yourself.
3. Close your eyes.
4. Imagine yourself in a beautiful location, where everything is as you would ideally have
it. ...
5. Imagine yourself becoming calm and relaxed.

BENEFITS

Imagery has a positive effect on heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and oxygen
rates, brain waves, temperature, and hormone balance. Guided imagery can help
relieve symptoms caused or made worse by stress, such as: chest pain (angina), high
blood pressure, high blood glucose, headaches and digestive and breathing problems.
Mindfulness is the psychological process of purposely bringing one's attention to
experiences occurring in the present moment without judgment, which one can
develop through the practice of meditation and through other training.

Surprising Health Benefits of Mindfulness Meditation

-Get better sleep.

-Make progress toward your weight-loss goals.

-Lower your stress levels.

-Improve attention.

-Manage chronic pain.

-Help prevent depression relapse

Nearly every task we perform in a day—be it brushing our teeth, eating lunch, talking
with friends or exercising—can be done more mindfully.

When we are mindful of our actions, we pay more attention to what we are doing. It’s
the opposite of going through the motions—instead, you are tuned into your senses,
noticing your thoughts and emotions.

By building mindfulness into your daily life, you can practice mindfulness even when
you’re too busy to meditate.
Yoga, tai chi, and qigong.

Yoga integrates an individual's physical, mental, and spiritual components to

improve physical and mental health, particularly stress related
illnesses. Qigong exercise, similar to Tai Chi, consists of a series of breath
practices with body movement and meditation to attain deep focus and relaxed
state

According to many studies, the benefits of yoga, tai chi and qigong include;
 Better sleep.
 Improved mood.
 Increased physical energy.
 More complete rest.
 More clarity and focus.
 Reduced depression, stress and anxiety.
REPETITIVE PRAYER

Repetitive prayer. For this technique, you silently repeat a short prayer or phrase from
a prayer while practising breath focus. This method may be especially appealing if
religion or spirituality is meaningful to you..

The Uses of Repetitive Prayer

While these “formal”• prayers are often learned in the most mundane settings—
before going to bed as children, in catechism class—once they become a part of our
spiritual language they often become the prayers we fall back on in the extreme
moments of our lives, moments of fear and anxiety. . . . There are times when we
know we need to pray but we can’t think of what to say. The important thing in such
cases may not be the words themselves but our need for God.

Repetitive prayer is very beneficial if the heart and mind are involved (that's
called contemplative prayer). Christ himself said “please take this cup away from
me but yet not my will” three times he said the same thing at Gethsemane.
Angels in heaven constantly say “Holy, Holy, Holy…” in sets of three over and
over again for eternity in the book of Revelations. As for “Holy talks”it's no good
for you if spend all your life listening but don't act on them,. But prayer is a way
to build your relationship with God and Heaven that could change your life and
that of others. And the Rosary is not just any ordinary prayer, it revealed to St
Dominic, it includes praising God every time you say “Hallowed be thy name”,
“Blessed” and “Glory”. And it's also preaching because you preaching to
yourself what Christ taught and lived with each of the “mysteries” that you
meditate on. You don't have to go anywhere to listen to Holy talks just say the
Rosary where you are and listen to God in your heart.
wellness and relaxation techniques

Wellness and Relaxation techniques refer to the variety of methods and

manipulations used to reduce stress, muscle tension, and anxiety in the
body. Relaxation techniques are effective in treating back pain by
relaxing painful back muscles and relieving muscle spasms as well as
diverting attention away from pain. The techniques are thought to work
by triggering the Relaxation Response (RR), a state of deep relaxation
that induces a decrease in heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure,
and breathing rate. Relaxation techniques range from massage therapy,
Tai chi, and acupuncture.
