Introduction:
Lanzones is considered one of the most favorite fruits in the
Philippines.(pinoybisnes.com). Base on our research; the extract of lanzones; is
antioxidant (www.stuartxchange.org), has skin mosturizing / lightening effect(Review of
Lansium domesticum Corrêa and its use in cosmetics / Martha TILAAR, Wong Lip WIH et
al / Bol. Latinoam. Caribe Plant. Med. Aromaticas Vol. 7 (4) 2008), is anti-malarial
(Lansium domesticum: skin and leaf extracts of this fruit tree interrupt the lifecycle of
Plasmodium falciparum, and are active towards a chloroquine-resistant strain of the
parasite (T9) in vitro / Donald T. T. Yapp, and S. Y. Yap / Journal of Ethnopharmacology /

"It is a common misconception that skin cancer is nothing to worry about because it
is curable. Not so, not for any of the 3 types of skin cancers. All of them would
ultimately spread all over the body and kill the patient, if not diagnosed early and
surgically removed on time.
"There are three types of cancer. The three are, basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous
cell carcinoma (SCC), and melanoma. Basal cell cancer, which rarely spreads, unless
neglected, usually affects the face, the part most exposed to the sun, and the most
common skin cancer among persons with fair (light) complexion. BCC is the commonest
skin cancer among Filipinos. Squamous cell cancer, on the other hand, affects those with
dark complexion, like Filipinos, and usually parts that are NOT exposed to the sun, like
legs and feet. Among those with fair complexion, SCC also affects parts exposed to the
sun, like the face, neck and ears. Spread is more likely compared to BCC. But melanoma,
which accounts for less than 2 percent of skin cancers, is the most aggressive and
deadliest of those three."(Dr. Philip S. Chua) Recently, According to the World
Health Organizations GLOBOCAN 2012 report, around 300 Filipinos are diagnosed with
melanoma every year, with almost half eventually dying because of the disease. So we
should do anything to prevent skin cancer. Although we have this so called
Pembrolizumab, an immunotheraphy drug. It is also called "immune checkpoint
inhibitor", which prevents malignant tumors from deactivating the immune system 's
ability to identify and destroy cancer cells. We should also find a way to prevent any
kind of skin cancer. That's why we decided to make a soap out of lanzones leaves.
Statement of the problem:
We aimed to make a bathing soap out of lanzones leaves.
We aimed to have a skin tumor prevention bathing soap out of lanzones leaves.
Hypotheses:
We can create a bathing soap out of lanzones leaves.
We can't create a bathing soap out of lanzones leaves.
Significance of the Study:
This product was made to lessen the risk of having skin cancer.
Scope and Delimitation:
This product is for people of all ages.

Review of Related Literature
 Lanzones leaves are;• Antioxidant: Extract of LD was shown to have antioxidant
activity against DPPH free radical and anti-tyrosinase activity.• Skin Moisturizing /
Lightening Effect: Study showed LD extract can significantly increase skin moisture and
decrease the skin melanin index. (3)• Anti-Malarial / Skin and Leaf Extracts: Lansium
domesticum: skin and leaf extracts of this fruit tree interrupt the life cycle of
Plasmodium falciparum, and are active towards a chloroquine-resistant strain of the
parasite (T9) in vitro: Study indicates extracts of LD are a potential source for
compounds with activity against chloroquine-resistant strains of P. falciparum. (1)•
Antimelanogenesis: LD methanol extract was one of the study extracts that showed
strong inhibition of melanin production of B16 melanoma cells without significant
cytotoxicity, presenting as a potential ingredient for skin-whitening cosmetics if their
safety can be confirmed. (4)• Anti-Skin Tumor / Cycloartanoid Triterpene / Leaves: Study
isolated a new cycloartanoid triterpene from the leaves of LD. Some of the natural
product derivatives show significant inhibitory activity on skin-tumor promotion on the
basis of Epstein Barr virus activation. (7)(www.stuartxchange.org)
Transparent soap is simply hot process soap that uses solvents (sugar, glycerin and
alcohol) to dissolve the soap crystals that form allowing light to pass, therefore creating
transparency. (www.lovinsoap.com). There are 9 interesting benefits of glycerin for
skin;As a cleanser, as a toner, as skin mosturizer, to fight pimples, acne and blackhead,
for sensitive and baby's skin, as a sunscreen, for skin lightening, for younger-looking
skin, for dry chapped lips.(www.rewardme.in)
So we decided to put them together as one in a soap.

Chapter 3
Methodology

Research Design:
 Experimental research will be used in this study.
Materials:
1 bar of transparent soap -315g
18 lanzones leaves- 3g
Food coloring
Scent
Procedure:
All the materialsneeded were gathered. Lanzones leaves were boiled with 4 cups of
water. 40 minutes after, the mixture of lanzones extract and water were strained and
transferred into a container. The transparent soap was sliced into small cubes and
double-boiled it. When the soap partially melted, we slowly added the mixture of
lanzones extract and mixed it well until it was fully melted. After it, the liquid was
placed into a container to let it shape until it became hard.

 . Conclusions and Recommendations

Conclusion:
We therfore conclude that we can make a soap out of lanzones leaves and can make
the consumers love our product.
Majority of the respondents said that the lanzones leaves os effective to become a
soap.
Recommendation:
We recommend that the consumers will use this soap daily so that they can achieve
the flawless and smooth skin and also they can prevent a skin cancer or what we call the
melanoma.
This product is for external use only.

routine. Thus, this product that has aimed to lessen the risk of having skin cancer was
made. We made this lanzones soap in linay, manukan Z. N. In 10 respondents, 8 of
them said that the soap is effective and the rest said no, it is not effective. And based on
this result we concluded that majority of the respondents said that lanzones leaves is
effective to become a soap.
