DECLAMATION AND STORYTELLING

CONTEST MECHANICS
CADETS
1. The contest is open to all Cadets A (Grade 2-4) and Cadets B (Grade 5-6).
2. Each local church can send in only one (1) contestant (either male or female).
SUBMISSION OF ENTRY IS ON OR BEFORE March 27, 2018
3. Each contestant has the chance to choose contest piece of his/her choice. Contents must be:
a. Of good moral standard acceptable in the church.
b. Piece must be delivered within 5 minutes and shall promote moral/spiritual values.
c. A copy of the contest piece must be submitted in triplicate copy for the judges a day before the contest.
d. Only English piece is acceptable.
4. Guidelines for participants and audience:
a. Contestant must be in proper attire.
b. Props (body or hand props) are not allowed.
c. Official microphones/lapels provided by the committee shall be used.
d. Audience ( especially the trainer ) must refrain from coaching to avoid deduction.
e. Audience must refrain from applause until all participants are done.
5. Criteria for Judging:
a. DECLAMATION
Mastery: 30 pts
Delivery/Articulation: 30 pts
(diction and pronunciation, ability to interpret, emotionsreflected in the declamation piece by changing
the rate, pitch and volume of interpreters voice)
Stage Presence: 20 pts
(posture, gesture, movement, eye contact, facial expressions)
Content: 10 pts
Overall Impact: 10 pts
Total: 100 pts
b. STORYTELLING
Content : 40 pts
How well the story adheres to the Biblical passages and application of the story to the world or our lives.
Presentation: 40 pts.
Memorization, audience contact, body language, and gestures.
Clarity: 20 pts
Enunciation and pronunciation of words and voice strength.
6. Each contestant shall be given a number to determine the sequence of performance.
7. Winners shall be ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and shall receive trophies and citations from camp committee.
8. All contestants must be registered and must present a contest pass to the Contest In-charge.
9. All contest mechanics can be downloaded at the church website pmcc4w.org.
10. All entries must be submitted/emailed to the Overall Contest In-charge:

12. Schedule and venue of the contest will be posted at the lobby on the 1st day of the Camp.
13. Those who won the 1st place will no longer join the same contest.
14. Winners will be posted at the lobby on Wednesday morning of the camp.
15. Awardees must be in proper attire. No pants, no short skirts or dress are allowed.
