Villanueva said that for incoming Grades 7 and 8, curriculum guides, learning modules and
teachers' guides for 23 tech-voc courses were developed. Examination of these products is
currently ongoing for Grades 9 to 10. These are on Automotive Servicing; Mechanical Drafting;
Computer Hardware Servicing; Horticulture; Shielded Metal Arc Welding; Consumer
Electronics Servicing; Aqua Culture; Dressmaking /Tailoring; Masonry; Care giving; Household
Services; Plumbing; Agri Crop Production; Fish Capture; Handicraft; Carpentry; RAC Servicing
(DomRac); Electrical Installation and Maintenance; Bread and Pastry Production; Tile Setting;
Animal Production; Food (Fish) Processing; and Beauty Care (Nail Care Services). TESDA
provided technical assistance for the review of the K to 12 Entrepreneurship module. This has
also provided instruction in validating curriculum guides and learning modules for 17 TLE
supervisors and 135 LTE teachers. TESDA, the Higher Education Commission and the
Education Department have worked very closely to ensure the efficient introduction of the K –
12 programme. The three organizations have joined forces to equip several schools as role
models for K to 12 education. To date, the Senior High School Modeling Program has been
adopted by 30 schools and a further 36 private schools have submitted proposals for their
implementation plans. "The rise of good schools is no accident. It is a product of deliberate
policies and long-term investments that acknowledge that quality education is central to a
nation's economic growth," Villanueva said.
