    The Talacogon Integrated School in Misamis Oriental, Philippines conducted its quarterly earthquake drill on June 20, 2019 at 2pm. During the drill, students and teachers followed evacuation procedures - when the siren sounded, they ducked under furniture and then headed in an orderly fashion to the designated evacuation area. A headcount confirmed that all 417 students and 17 teachers were safely accounted for. The drill was led by the school principal and disaster response coordinator and was carried out systematically, with no reported injuries.

    ON THE SECOND QUARTER
    NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS EARTQUAKE DRILL

    I. INTRODUCTION AND DRILL SCENARIO

    In line with the campaign of the Department of Education (DepEd) in


    equipping the school children with the knowledge, proper attitude and skills on
    what to do in case of natural disaster like earthquake, Talacogon Integrated
    School conducted its quarterly earthquake drill in the school June 20, 2019 at
    exactly 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Mrs. Lorna M. Wahing, the school principal
    lead the activity with the teachers and their respective classes. The drill was
    carried out simultaneously and smoothly. All grade levels occupied the
    designated area for the, based on the school evacuation plan.
    On June 20, 2019 at exactly 2 o’clock in the afternoon a siren sound
    blurted for one minute as a signal that an earthquake is currently happening.
    Everybody in their respective classes ducked and covered themselves under
    their armchairs and tables. After that, the teachers led their advisory classes in
    heading to the designated evacuation area located in front of the stage. They
    were grouped together according to the class where they belong. Then, all
    classroom teachers did a headcount to make sure that all pupils are accounted
    for. Ms. Angelyn A. Pamisa, the school DRRMC coordinator announced the
    termination of the drill. In summary, the drill was successfully implemented and
    nobody was injured because the routines were systematic and everybody was
    cooperative during the activity.
