Introduction to the company

Godrej is a consumer goods company based in Mumbai; India established in 1897.


Ardeshir Godrej was the founder of the company. 12-decade old company aims to
double its revenue as compared to last decade. The product portfolio include soap,
hair colorants, toiletries and liquid detergents. With the revenue of over USD 4.1
billion company is growing fast.

Advantage and Disadvantages of social media communication

Advantages:
• You can easily reach to large audience : One of the most important is that
we can easily reach to larger people.
• You can have a direct connection to your audience : There is a direct
communication with your audience which help in building strong
relationship.
• Building your brand image in front of audience : Through social media
platform you can you can build your brand image.
• You can evaluate and see how you perform in the market : By social
media platform we can also evaluate our performance in the market.
• By social media you can create some original contacts : Social media help
in making some good contact to its audience.

Disadvantages:

1. The main disadvantage is that there will be no face to face communication


with audience
2. It gives people a licence to be hurtful
3. It also facilitates laziness : Sometimes people find it lazy to yse social
media for there use.
4. Negative feedback my damage your brand image : many times people
give wrong or negative feedback which may effect there band image.
5. Sometimes you need to commit your resources to manage your social media

Godrej Primarily uses facebook, Instagram and twitter to promote its brands. They
have a separate page for Godrej group to showcase the CSR initiatives and brand
specific pages to promote the products.

Godrej has taken few steps to build its current social media platform stronger by
keeping in touch with customers all the time. They have created a page on
Facebook called ‘Spark of imagination’ which gives a platform where customers
can discuss on various topics like ‘Bright living’ and ‘Green design or Practices’.

They have also built their presences on Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest and many
other social networking sites. By doing so, it helps them to access and reach their
customers effectively and quickly. There main purpose of Godrej is to be always
available for their customers and build trust and confidence on their brand.

• Conducting Contests to build user engagement


Godrej keeps on conducting various online contests on different occasions.
Like, Good Knight conducted Mother’s day contest, Children’s day contest
on facebook, Godrej Aer on Twitter, and Cinthol contests.
• Replying & Responding to customer complaints and queries
If any customer shares his query and complaint, the page always respond to
the query and solutions are provided to the customer. This generates a
favourable image in the mind of the customer that the company is listening
and addressing to their problems.
• Chatbots on facebook
Whenever you visit any Godrej page on facebook, the chat box
automatically appears on the screen. This is done to encourage customers to
put up queries, or share his views.
In last 5 years Godrej group have launched various campaigns on the social media
platforms.

1. #SpreadToProtect : Godrej Protekt

With Spread of Coronavirus across the globe, Godrej Protekt came with the
campaign #SpreadToProtect. Using this hashtag they’re spreading good
habits of handwashing and inculcating safe practices to prevent from
Coronavirus. They are showing videos with steps to be taken, to protect
people from falling ill. They also invited Dr. Mukesh Sanklecha, to give
advice on how to protect and take preventive measures for coronavirus. He
also answered the queries raised by customers in the comments.

This campaign was launched on 4Th February 2020.


2. #SochKeBanayaHai : Godrej Electronics
This Campaign Focuses on the convenience of the consumers. It represents
that Godrej Appliances are designed and made as per the convenience of the
user. The appliances are made with a “Soch”, that is delivering innovative
and unique products. The company is committed to designing products
which ease the living of customers.
3. #Just4foroutdoors : Good Knight Roll On

Godrej Good Knight launched an entirely new form of mosquito repellent


called ‘Good Knight Fabric Roll On’. The product highlight is that it
protects against mosquitoes outdoors by applying on the clothes as 4 dots to
protect for 8 hours.
For this Product Godrej goodKnight launched ‘Khul k Jiyo Ghar K Bahar’
campaign, wherein family members were seen advising the child not to go
out for playing as it can cause dangerous diseases like Malaria & Dengue.
But the mother allows the child to go out, after applying the roll on. This
shows the trustworthiness of the product.
This was a successful campaign as it promoted playing of children outdoors,
which is beneficial and important for their development. This campaign
encourages kids to play outside without any restrictions as they’ve used
‘Godrej Fabric Roll On’, which will protect them from mosquito borne
diseases.
4. Godrej aer twist for a better drive

#BetterDriveEveryday campaign is launched for the Godrej Aer twist's.


Godrej Aer Twist’s gives the customer amazing fragrance for 60 days. The
campaign shows car fragnance as an important factor for better driving in
comparison to AC, music and Maps.
5. #Readyforawesome : Cinthol Women
Cinthol’s campaign #Readyforawesome represents the spirit of women in
sports. The Ad features the stereotypes in the Indian society and how
women concur them. The ad shows that women are strong, they need to
showcase their talent and skills to the world to break the myths. This
Campaign celebrates the spirit of women in sport. It depicts the bold spirit
and the ability of women to take over the world. Cinthol’s tone ‘Alive is
Awesome’ is linked with ‘#ReadyforAwesome’ to launch Cithol’s range of
fragrances & Deodrants for women.
Readyforawesome received graet applause from many sportsperson like
Virendra Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Sakshi malik, Saina Nehwal, Babita Phogat
to name a few.
6. Make Space for Life
The new television commercial launched Godrej Interio’s Campaign
#Makespaceforlife. The ad fancy people to make space for life, relations and
memories by reminding them that their surroundings play a vital role of the
interiors of the home.
This Ad shows the Indian family, how they’re connected with their homes,
and how furniture plays an important part. The ad associates emotions with
furniture and home.
Before launching the campaign a survey was also conducted to study the
behaviour of Indians in regard to maintaining balance between work life and
personal life. The survey results showed that majority of Indians find it
difficult balance their time for work, family and friends. Gogrej Interio took
this opportunity to urge people to make time for their passion, and family.
Suggestions:

1. Uniformity
All the Platforms should have the uniformity in uploading Ads. All the ads
should be uploaded on all the media platform. Currently some campaigns are
run only on facebook or twitter, they should be run together simultaneously
as to increase popularity and product awareness.

2. Promoting each brand on the Godrej Group Page


As godrej group have major followers, brands which have low customer
engagement can be promoted there.
