MISSION STATEMENT
I am an educator passionate about working with students in the classroom, in athletics, and
in the outdoors. I believe that the social studies are crucial for preparing students to be
thoughtful, responsible, and critically minded citizens who can utilize knowledge of the past
to create a future for themselves and others in their society. It is my role as a social studies
educator to prepare students for the world that awaits them by providing students with the
skills necessary to think for themselves while also maintaining active participation in the
democratic system. I believe that educators are crucial to the development of young adult’s
three C’s of skill building known as confidence, communication, and critical thinking. I
implement these skills in my lesson plans throughout the social studies curriculum, my
practice plans, in athletics, or in my programming in outdoor education.
