CHAPTER -1
INTRODUCTION
ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Limited is an Indian
mass media company. ZEEL is a public limited
company. It is owned by Essel Group. The
headquarters are situated in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
The company was launched on 15 December 1991 by
Dr Subhash Chandra. The company has over 39
domestic channels and around 39 international
channels. Some of the channels include Zee Zindagi,
Zee Cinema and many more. ZEEL also owns a music
channel in the name of ZEE Music Company. The
company also streams online in the name of ZEE5. The
channels of the company streams in 173 countries. The
company entertains almost 1.3 billion people every
day. The company is able to do so as it streams in more
than 19 languages. It enjoys over 18% share in the
market due to its attracting tagline “Umeed Se Saje
Zindagi”.
The company was named “Company of The Year”
in 1998 by the Economic Times. The company was
also awarded the Federation Of Indian Chambers
Of Commerce And Industry in the year 1998.

PRODUCT LINES

I. ZEE TV:- This channel was launched in
1992. The channel has created strong
brand equity which helped it to become
the largest media franchise. Its famous
tagline says “Aaj Likhenge Kal” which
motivates its viewers to follow their
dreams and aspirations.
II. &TV :- &TV is the flagship Hindi GEC
amongst the “&” bouquet of channels
from ZEEL. It showcases a diverse and
dynamic mix of relatable fiction, high
voltage non-fiction, marquee events and
blockbuster movies. The channel is
available across all cable and DTH
operators. The channel is viewed by
premium audience and is fast gaining
popularity across territories.
III. Zing:- Zing is a channel for youth of
today, for those who are restless and
high spending power. It showcases kick-
ass music, youth fiction shows, a mix of
Bollywood and Hollywood movies. It
provides an electic mix of content that
strikes a note with the affluent youth.

b) Regional Entertainment Channels: The
regional portfolio of ZEEL is spread across 7
languages- Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, Kannada,
Tamil, Bhojpuri and Odiya. Some of the
channels are:
I. Zee Marathi:- ZEE Marathi was launched
in 1999. This channel is Maharashtra’s No.
1 channel. This channel is the most
popular channel among the Marathi
people across the world. This channel has
a legacy that stretches over time,
emotions and relations.
II. ZEE Telugu:- ZEE Telugu is the first
Southern Regional Channel from ZEEL.
This channel was launched in May 2005. It
has established as the top Telugu channel
which reaches to more than 75 million
people week on week across India.

III. ZEE Kannada:- ZEE Kannada was launched
in 2006. This channel never fails to
entertain the audience of Karnataka with
its vibrant and colourful colours content.
It has secured its position in the
competitive Kannada Television Industry.
The channel has established its brand
name by showcasing shows which
represents the life of ordinary
Kannadians.

its best in class Hindi movies. It is ranked the No.1
Hindi movie channel provider.
II. ZEE Action :- ZEE Action solely aims to entertain
the large population with its collection of top
action movies. This channel was launched around
three decades ago. This channel brings thrill to its
millions of viewers.
III. ZEE Bollywood:- ZEE Bollywood provides
entertainment to its millions of viewers through its
top class display of Bollywood masala movies. It
establishes a position as a one stop destination for
its entertainers.

Services Process
1. Technology: It is really a challenging task to serve
billions of people day and night 24*7 in their
preferred language. It was only possible because
of the technology that is being updated day by
day. The sole objective is to bring people together
irrespective of the technology updation.

2. Broadcast Operations: The transmission facility
and distribution of ZEEL is located at Noida. The
facility became operational in March 2002. The
entire media now operates on high speed optical
fiber links.
3. Broadcast Management System: Broadcast
Management System is an internally developed
media for the fast paced, ever changing
environment of television broadcast. The system
carries in excess of 30000 commercials daily to
viewers.
4. Digital Asset Management: Digital Asset
Management is a modern and fully integrated
platform that manages over 200000 hours of
content. DAM helps provide appropriate and
automated access to the content at the click of a
button.

Marketing Strategies
7 P’s of marketing are:
1. Product: A product is a combination of 2
components. The components are goods and
services. Services include entertainment which the
ZEEL provides to its viewers.

2. Price: ZEEL follows a competitive pricing strategy
in its marketing mix but maintains a premium level
at the same time. It is clearly visible that it enjoys
maximum market capital.
3. Place: ZEEL has already created its brand name
which is widespread in all major parts of the
world. The established brand name has helped
ZEEL to acquire the major proportion of the
market.
4. Promotion: ZEEL focuses a lot on the promotional
strategy in its marketing mix. ZEEL is involved in
large number of CSR activities for sustainable
livelihood initiatives. ZEEL has always made its
presence feel in the media through hoardings,
sponsorships etc.
5. People: ZEEL gives strong importance to its
entertainers. ZEEL has recently introduced various
regional channels like ZEE Marathi, ZEE Telugu and
many more for its viewers.
6. Physical Evidence: Due to its amazing and comedy
collection of shows and movies, it is clearly evident
that large number of people still prefer to watch
channels of ZEEL and not any other channel. This is
the reason, ZEEL is able to rule in the mass media
industry.

7. Process: Through various service processes like
DAM, Broadcast Management System, and many
more, ZEEL has been able to capture the minds
Indian viewers.
CHAPTER 5
CSR ACTIVITIES
A business cannot succeed if the society fails. There are
various Corporate Social Responsibilities that are

undertaken by ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Limited.
Some of these are:
1) Education: ZEEL is doing a splendid job in
providing education to the underprivileged
children. ZEEL has its own school named “Ekal
Vidyalaya” which has reached out to 53,473
villages in 21 states till date. This initiative was
taken by the company around 2 years ago.
2) Marrow Donor Registry: ZEEL runs the India’s first
NGO which helps the patients who are suffering
from blood related diseases by providing blood
stem cell transplant services. The NGO was started
around 5 years ago
3)Rally For Rivers: With the help of Ministry of
Environment, ZEEL has started a campaign to
protect the Indian rivers. The campaign’s slogan
says “Nadi Bahegi, Zindagi Rahegi”.

FUTURE PROSPECTS
The company plans to take some activities in the near
future to attract more and more viewers. These
activities are:
1) The company plans to introduce new shows
specially for the kids as currently there is no
channel for kids by the ZEEL
2)The enterprise aims to grab viewers’ attention by
bringing new shows which features genuine
humour for the Indian viewers.
3) The company wants to entertain people by
bringing more reality shows just like SA RE GA MA
PA and DANCE INDIA DANCE.
