Week Three - Research

RESEARCH

What did you learn from your From my research I learnt a few new things. Firstly, I learnt
research? that there are different genres for a documentary. This was
very helpful for me to have learnt as I has made me able to
know what genre I was planning to use also I was able to
identity the different genre in different documentaries. This
has given me more knowledge about documentaries. The
second thing I learnt from my research was my peer’s opinions
an views, this was done through primary research. I made a
couple of surveys and I also did a focus group. Having done
this it has given me a clearly understand of what my peers
think a documentary is. I was then able to gather more
information to get a background of where or not my chosen
target audience watch documentaries, this was very helpful as
I meant I could change the target audience if I needed. The
next thing I learnt from my research was facts about my
chosen topic, as I chose to do TikTok I knew quiet a lot about it
as I use it, however clearly I didn’t know as much I thought.
From researching into I got a better picture of what I could
include to make the documentary for interesting. When
researching the topic, I looked at news articles that was
realised and I was very shocked, and I thought that I could add
this into my documentary, so I was able to consider how to do
this, so I thought I could make it into a question I would ask my
interviewees. It also made me have a better understanding of
the topic and I have been able to better knowledge of the app.
The last thing I learnt from my research was preparing and the
set of a video call interview style, this was very helpful as I
thought it was easy as In just go on a call. However when I
looked into it, I got a video which helped me identify the steps
and some tips to making it look more professional, I’m happy
that I looked into this because if I hadn’t learnt these it could
have gone terribly wrong.

How has the research into existing Researching into the two artists I chose, Louis Theroux and
artists and professionals helped you Molly Dinee there were both different. One of Molly Dinee’s
improve your ideas? production which I investigated helped me to further improve
my idea. In her productions she uses a lot of visuals, I think
that it is very important because it helps the audience to
understand what is being said. This also helps to keep the
audience interested in watching the production. I thought
about how I could include this to my production, so when I talk
about statistics and facts, I will try to get some relevant videos
which will help to back up what I am saying. This will help to
maintain my audience attention so that they stay interested.

How has the research into your Researching into my target audience, I firstly looked at the age
target audience helped you improve of the users that use TikTok and then from this I was able to
your ideas? choose the target audience that would best suit and entertain
 them. So I chose 16-24 year olds, female and male. I then sent
out a survey to my chosen target audience this was so I could
get to know what this age group do and enjoy, I asked
questions to find out what they spend there money on, what
their hobbies are and also what they like to watch. Asking
these questions allows me to get more background information
of the age group, this also made me think whether the target
audience I chose would suit my chosen topic and if they would
enjoy my production.

How has the research into your Researching into my platform, I looked in detail facts about
platform helped you improve your YouTube and this helped me to know the number of users that
ideas? use it and there ages this then gave me reassurance if my
viewers would see my production of YouTube. I then sent out a
survey asking my target audience about documentaries and
what they would like to see in documentary, then asked about
social media, this gave me a wider range of social platforms
this made me think if they use Instagram more should I upload
my production to YouTube and Instagram this may help to get
more interaction with the age range.

What work do you need to complete I was on track, but I am all caught up now
outside of lessons to stay on track?
