    How to keep your fashion looking fabulous

    Care tips for boots & shoes

    The perfect time to spray those brand new boots or shoes,


    with a leather or suede protector, is before wearing them.
    Pay extra attention to fully spraying the heels, soles and,
    especially, the grooves.

    If you’re wearing them in the snow and slush and get salt
    stains on them, make sure to clean them off as soon as
    you come in – ideally with BootRescue or ShoeRescue
    wipes. Why? Salt can start damaging boots immediately,
    making the leather dry out and buckle.

    However, if you have an old pair of boots that have


    already been soiled, do not fear! Just give them a thorough
    wipe with BootRescue, paying particular attention to the
    heels and grooves where salt can collect and do the
    most damage.

    For suede boots, once you’ve cleaned the salt stains off,
    brush them with a stiff suede brush to keep the suede
    looking its best. For really stubborn stains, you can use
    something hard to rub them off, like a nail file.

    The key to keeping your footwear looking great is


    maintenance, maintenance, maintenance. So always
    resole or re-heel those shoes or boots before they're
    beyond repair.

    From time to time, it's a good idea to re-apply protector


    spray to keep your footwear as well protected as possible.

    If your boots or shoes get wet, newspaper is what you


    need. Simply stuff your wet footwear with it and put them
    somewhere away from direct heat to dry.

    To keep the shape of your boots, you can buy wooden boot
    stuffers, but stuffing them with newspaper or wine bottles
    works just as well (and saves you money).

    If your shoes or boots get a little 'fragrant', here are a few


    easy ways to get them fresh-smelling again: replace the
    insoles, stick your shoes in a plastic bag and pop them in
    the freezer overnight (yep, really) or place dryer sheets in
    them for several hours after wearing.

    Before storing your boots after the winter, make sure to


    clean them thoroughly, again ideally with BootRescue
    wipes, so the salt won't cause permanent damage.

    Store your boots out of direct sunlight in a temperature-


    controlled environment, as sunlight or extreme heat can
    cause leather to dry out, fade or crack.
    Care tips for your sandals

    Spray your sandals all over with protector spray before


    wearing them.

    For those ugly dirt and oil footprints that appear on


    suede foot beds after hardly any wear, you can use
    SandalRescue wipes to scrub them off. They’re textured
    and work well both on the foot beds and to clean all over
    leather or suede sandals.

    Before you store your sandals for the winter, make sure
    to clean them thoroughly, as stains will be more difficult
    to get out once they’ve set. (SandalRescue works great
    for this!)

    It’s best to store your sandals out of direct sunlight in


    a temperature-controlled environment, as sunlight or
    extreme heat can damage leather and suede.

    Care tips for your handbags

    As with boots or shoes, you should spray your leather


    bags all over with protector spray before using them.
    That way if you get caught in the rain and your leather
    bag gets wet, the water won’t damage it. You can even
    buy a little ‘raincoat’ (plastic cover) for your bag if you’re
    really concerned.

    For day-to-day touch ups and to remove surface stains,


    you can use HandBagRescue wipes. They’ll not only clean,
    but will also condition leather bags with essential oils, to
    make them smooth and soft and last longer.

    To help handbags keep their shape, it’s best to stuff them


    with newspaper before storing them. And be sure to store
    them in a temperature-controlled environment. That way
    sunlight or extreme heat won’t cause leather to dry out,
    fade or crack.
