Assessment 4 – Business Report

Introduction:

This paper contains brief information about the practices of the management that they might use
to enhance the skills of the employees while working in this difficult situation, like the COVID-
19. There is a lockdown in all the countries, due to which the businesses are impacted so much.
The management could not even hire new employees due to not having enough finances to spend
on the training of the employees. By considering this, there are some analysis of the journal
articles, theories and practices have defined in the paper through which the management can
increase the productivity of the employees so that they can work efficiently in the environment
of the company even if they work from their homes due to lockdown.

Media Article:

According to research, COVID-19 has left a negative impact on different organizations. In

accordance with this awakening situation, businesses are finding difficulties to maintain their
HR’s performance management. While on the other hand, the cost-cutting measures are needed
to maintained by the employers because of which half of the employers freeze the hiring process
and are implementing different strategies to increase their retained employee’s performance. This
article presents a great insight into how can a company’s HR helped their respective managers to
maintain their performance and the business proficiency in this difficult and pandemic situation
spreads all over the globe. This situation has increased the ratio of new challenges because of
which the employers need to implement the performance strategies. So, this article presented
different ways to increase the performance of the retained employees; it suggested that:

 Employee performance must be monitored regularly

 Employers need to senses whether the employee is in need or not.
 Promotion of the dialogues to build the understanding, for example, two-way
communication.
 Clarity must be there by communicating the objectives
 Organizational values must be reinforced to reduce the likelihood of the misconduct.
 Recognition and rewards must be implemented to acknowledge the efforts of the
employees [CITATION htt105 \l 1033 ].

Journal Article:

Anderson Aarum (2018) discovered that there is a huge difference between the two theories of
leadership; like between the Servant and Transformational leadership. This paper constitutes
several researches in this regard to present an adequate comparison between two theories. In
terms of Servant leadership, this paper discussed that this leadership helped the followers to
achieve their long-term goals and bring wellbeing and development to them. While for the
transformational leadership, the Author stated that; a leader needs to work with his/her team to
bring the change while creating a vision to achieve that change, whether long-terms and short-
term. Apart from the comparison this paper also gives the insight about the similarities about the
two theories according to which in both of these concepts the followers are forced to follow the
vision and objective or pathway described by their leader. While findings of this paper indicate
that both theories are lacking in the clarity as in this modern world, both concepts are different as
compared to their original concept [CITATION And1 \l 1033 ].

Discussion:

As it has observed that due to the COVIC-19, there is a great impact on the existing and trained
employees. The management of the companies is not hiring the new employees, as they have no
enough finances to spend on the training of the employees, but they give importance to train the
existing employees [CITATION She191 \l 1033 ]. Mostly, the trained staff members and
manager are responsible for training the new staff members, due to which the responsibilities on
them become increased. There are some methods which might be beneficial while giving the
training to the new employees; they are as follows:

Understand the Emotional Needs of Employees – the management must be focused to

understand the needs of the employees, for which purpose, they must need to have strong
communication with them. By implementing this strategy, the management can gain the trust of
the employees and get the opportunity to remove the barriers that might occur between the
effectiveness of their relationships with employees [ CITATION Whi19 \l 1033 ]. In this way,
the management can get the trust of the employees, and make them feel that they are important
for the company, and their involvement in the company plays an important role to get the desired
success.

Two-Way Direct Communication – in order to clearly understand the employees, and to make
effective communication, the management must need to ensure two-way communication. It is
very beneficial to understand the instant response and concern of the employees [ CITATION
She192 \l 1033 ]. In this way, the management can get the opportunity to make the emotional
relations such as trust, pride etc. with the employees, and pursue them to share their actual
feelings so that they can resolve the potential issues and increase the retention of the existing
employees.

Create Clarity by Using Objectives – the management must need to specify the goals and to the
employees in order to increase their motivation and enthusiasm [ CITATION Sto17 \l 1033 ]. By
reminding them of the goals time-to-time, the management can share their motives with them,
and pursue them to work with the increased productivity. In this way, the management can
increase the clarity of the goal between the employees and them, so it can be said that the
management must be focused and let the employees be focused towards the same goals.

Improvement Instead of Innovation – the management must need to be focused on handling the
existing practices of the company instead of making any innovation. There is a lockdown in all
the countries, due to which the companies are facing loss [ CITATION Nik18 \l 1033 ]. They
could not hire the new employees, due to which they must give priority to improve the skills of
the existing employees so that they can work in the comp-any with the productivity which is
required for the betterment of the company.

Give Reasonable Relaxations – the management must need to give reasonable relaxation to the
employees; it is necessary to maintain their interest in working. For this purpose, the
management can reduce the work pressure of the employees by sharing their responsibilities;
they can give the management work to the employees by working on the ground floor
[ CITATION Rob19 \l 1033 ]. This is one of the wats thorough which the management can get
the trust of the employees, and pursue them to work for the betterment of the company in this
crucial time.
The strategies mentioned above might prove beneficial for the management to fight with this
poor time without facing a huge loss. As the employee are the important stakeholders of the
company, whose presence in every practice is essential, so the strategies mentioned above might
help the management to increase the productivity and enthusiasm of the employees so that they
can work in the environment of the company efficiently, even if they work as home-base
employees due to the lockdown, so they can work efficiently without having the negative
impacts on the quality work of the employees [ CITATION Ham19 \l 1033 ]. Moreover, this is
one of the ways through which the management can overcome the loss that they face due to the
lockdown, and not hiring the new employees. By having the insight of all these requirements, it
can be said that the management must make the strategies through which they can increase the
skills and motivation of the employees.

Conclusion:

In order to have great insight into the strategies which might be used by the management, there is
a media article and a journal article has discussed in the paper. By analyzing these articles, it can
be said that the management must need to give the training to the lower management and
employees in order to continue the practices of the company efficiently. Due to the increased risk
of the COVID-19, the management must need to increase the skills of the employees so that they
work with the increasing productivity which is highly necessary for the company to overcome
the potential risks due to lockdown.

Reflection:

According to the feedback provided by the professor regarding my assessment 3, which was an
assignment, I get to know that I have a long way to learn about organizational behaviour and
management. So, I am inspired and motivated because of this feedback because now I have a
chance to learn more, as according to the last feedback now I gave organized my work efficiently
to get the good response from the professor. I read different journal articles regarding the
management, leadership and organizational behaviour so that I can learn different conduct of
leaders in terms of different theories and concepts discovered by different authors. The most
important thing about which I learnt is the motivation; this is one of the practices that can
increase productivity by pursuing to complete the assigned tasks efficiently. So, I will try to
adopt the skill of high motivation, and use to motivate myself all the time, so that I can increase
my work performance in order to get the higher remarks from the professor again in future.
