Our Trip To Switzerland

Written by: Juan Manuel Garcia, Saeth Nasser, Valery Betancourth
We decided to travel to Switzerland as a prize for having won the semester, we
looked for cheap tickets and good weather to get to know.

Where To Live?
Living in switzerland is an amazing experience, so if you’re planning on living or
travel in switzerland, there are many picturesque swiss cities and landscapes that
you should visit to find the coveted swiss lifestyle. For me living in switzerland is
subjective to the lifestyle you’re looking for.
I recommend the city of basel, located in northwest switzerland which offers its
habitants a great geographical position to visit france and germany.
If you want to live in basel you can enjoy amazing views and landscapes like the
river rhine, which can be seen from numerous spots across the city. This river
plays an important role in exporting and importing goods, since basel is
switzerland’s only outlet to the ocean. There are connections exceptionally good in
basel due to its sea port.

Public Transport.
Learning how public transport works in switzerland is one of the first major
challenges faced by every tourist visiting the country. Knowing how to get from one
place to another is relatively easy, but understanding how the transportation
network works or how it is zoned is not that simple.
swiss public transport is quite expensive, it can boast of offering a high quality
service: it reaches almost every corner of the country, it is a very punctual service,
it is very well organised, it is easily accessible, it is usually very clean and well
cared for.
It is divided into two types of networks: the national transport network - which
includes trains, mountain cable cars and even boats - and the transport network of
each town or city - mainly buses and/or trams.
Clothes.
What kind of clothes do they wear in switzerland?
What i noticed while living in switzerland is that it is a multicultural country. People
with roots in germany, france, italy and other european nations call the alpine
nation home. All the various cultures have an influence on swiss fashion. You
should check swiss fashion if you want to get to know more about their style.
You can also find traditional clothes used in switzerland such as:
Embroidery
Most traditional swiss clothing is adorned with embroidery. Usually embroidery is
stitched on hats, scarves and shirt cuffs.
Traditional smocks
Smocks are another traditional swiss fashion worn by both swiss-italians as well as
swiss-french boys.
Modern swiss teen fashion
Just as in other western countries, swiss teens wear casual clothes, although the
same outfit is typically worn for several days. They wear heavy jackets, scarves
and gloves in winter. During warmer months, they wear light clothing such as t-
shirts.

Food
Swiss cuisine combines the influences of German, french and northern Italian
cuisine, these include, for example:
Raclette
Raclette is one of the quintessential swiss dishes, especially typical of the valais
region. It owes its name to raclette cheese from the same region, which is
presented in the form of a huge wheel that can reach at least 6 kilos in weight.
Swiss chocolate
Has also become one of the richest and most delicious foods that we can taste in
any of its cities and towns, a true symbol of the country. And very few resist a
smoking cup of chocolate or a piece of this delicacy with a designation of swiss
origin.
The älplermagronen
Dish, which we could translate as alpine macaroni with applesauce, is one of the
most delicious pasta dishes that we will find especially in the part of central
switzerland. The simplicity of this dish is in its ingredients, made from small
macaroni, gruyere cheese, cream, onion and the star accompaniment of
älplermagronen, the applesauce.
A fondue
Is a well-known dish in switzerland although its popularity has spread to other
countries such as france. The original recipe is made with gruyere cheese or
emmental cheese although other types of variants are made with all kinds of
cheeses such as cheddar.

Excursions
Ginebra y su jet d’eau
Geneva is one of the most important cities in switzerland. Chosen as the
headquarters of the most recognized international organizations worldwide, such
as fifa, the un or the red cross, it has several beautiful corners on the banks of lake
geneva. Our chosen one is the “jet d’eau”, a fountain that throws a jet of water 140
meters high in the lake. One of the best places to see it is, without a doubt, from
the gustave-ador pier, but also, very close to there, is the english garden from
where it can also be seen. And, since you're there, don't forget to visit another of
the city's emblems, a flower clock called horloge fleurie.

Escafusa and the rhine falls

To the north of the country, almost on the border with germany, is the small town of
schaffhausen (escafusa in spanish). It is worth visiting its historic quarter of
renaissance facades in which the munot stands out, a fortress from the 16th
century. But visiting the waterfalls that form on the rhine river is one of the activities
to do in switzerland. They are easily accessible by public transport or by bicycle,
but it is also worth renting a car to tour the entire area at your own pace.
Chillon castle on the shore of lake geneva
Also on the banks of lake geneva, but at the other end, is chillon castle, whose
construction dates back to the middle ages. This strength has been the inspiration
of numerous writers and poets, such as rousseau, victor hugo, alejandro dumas or
lord byron. Although the rooms and interior rooms are in a very good state of
preservation, worth a visit, the panorama could not be more spectacular on the
outside. The castle by the lake with the mountain chain dents du midi, in the
background is one of the most beautiful scenery to see in switzerland.

Markets In Switzerland
Switzerland has the some of the best towns and cities that have a weekly market,
great for picking up fruit and vegetables straight from the grower, freshly-baked
bread and any number of local specialties from alpine cheese to meringues. But
you'll also find beautiful flower stalls, trendy food markets where you can eat on
site such as zurich's markthalle, flea markets stuffed with if you are looking for
antiques, bric-a-brac and vintage clothes you can go to flea markets around the
city.

Historical Switzerland
A place that you should know is the museum in this place you will find the whole
history behind what is now the great switzerland to know a little about this country
a few years ago will be a fantastic experience and you will surely be fascinated
with everything in this museum we can find the material legacies of craftsmanship
to the unimpressive objects of daily life, offer views of the lives of the swiss from
prehistory to the present. Within the framework of special exhibitions, the
landesmuseum is dedicated to issues of social importance, temporary changes of
perspective. Gustav gull built the swiss national museum (schweizerisches
landesmuseum) in 1898 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first federal
constitution. The museum building between the main train station and platzspitz
park reminds a bit of a fairytale palace. In this museum you can see temporary
exhibitions on historical, cultural or social topics that are completed with debates,
conferences, presentations or workshops. "it also offers guides and electronic
question sets, as well as mobile tables where they can touch objects."
Without a doubt it is a place that will make you travel through time so you should
not hesitate to know
