Drawcords
Many different narrow fabrics can serve as a drawstring, including cord, braid, leather, ribbons, and
strips of fabric from which the garment is made.
Although similar, a drawstring purse differs from a drawstring backpack. The latter has two
large drawstrings that fit around each shoulder and allows the bag to hang down the back while the
purse hooks around the wrist.
A drawstring is material threaded through a casing, used to cinch or close something. They are used in
sweatshirt hoods to help them fit snugly, in the waistline of garments as an alternative to elastic or a belt,
and as means of closing and securing any kind of fabric sack, such as a purse or duffle bag.
Sports pants in jogging suits or sweatsuits, and medical pants, also called scrubs, are two popular
garments in which one commonly finds a drawstring. When used to cinch the waist of a garment, it may
either be partly visible as part of the garment's exterior design or threaded invisibly inside the garment.
Many different narrow fabrics can serve as a drawstring, including cord, braid, leather, ribbons, and strips
of fabric from which the garment is made. When the garment is being constructed, either a safety pin or a
tool called a bodkin is used to pull the string through the casing. An external drawstring may be fastened
by tying it in a bow or fastening it with a buckle, depending on is function, while an internal one is made to
be tied.
Even with precautions, such as tying the ends of a drawstring before putting a garment in the wash, or
making small knots in each end that will prevent it being pulled completely inside, the cord will
occasionally get "lost" in a garment or even break. If you remove the old drawstring, using a large safety
pin or a bodkin if you have one, you can rethread the casing with a new one.
Bags that use drawstrings for closure include sports backpacks for carrying gear from the locker room to
the athletic field, fashionable purses, satchels, beach bags, holiday gift bags, duffel bags, and coin
pouches. Since it is not the most secure or complete closure, you will find that some of these items use
the drawstring only as an ornament, and that even if it is functional, some have a secondary fastening
system, such as a snap or zipper.
Drawstring Shorts
For example, wicking shorts for runners are often designed with small pockets for keys and cell
phones, drawstring waists for comfort and reflective technology for safety.
Those who elect to buy water-resistant shorts might want to consider that features such as velcro
and drawstrings can effect how breathable the shorts can be. Waterproof shorts can come in varying
lengths and fits.
Drawstring Clothing
Comfort also is important for workout clothing that is worn to the gym. Drawstring and fold-over
shorts styles ensure security and enhance wearability during bodybuilding workouts.
The waist on capri plus size workout clothes may be either elastic or drawstring. Oversize bike
shorts are similar to capris, but are a little shorter in length; they usually have an elastic waist and fit
tighter on the body while still allowing for ease of movement.
Drawstring Skirt
These pouch pockets may close with a drawstring tie, a snap or a button.
Others have an elasticized waist, while still other designs feature both the drawstring and the
elasticized waist. The pant legs come in two basic styles.
Drawstring Pant :-
Many different narrow fabrics can serve as a drawstring, including cord, braid, leather, ribbons,
and strips of fabric from which the garment is made.
There are many different ways in which the pants are made — for example, some have large
cargo pockets, some are plain, and some have a drawstring closure at the waist. The fit of
the pants can range from a loose, relaxed fit that might pair well with flip-flops or sandals to a tighter,
more formal fit that could be worn with high heels on a night out.
Drawstring Bag :-
For example you can buy drawstring bags, trash bags with handles, scented trash bags, or a
variety of others.
A quick web search for "easy crochet bag" will bring back many ideas from drawstring bags to
beach totes.
