Punter’s Call
A breather for bulls

May 14, 2019 Nifty daily: 11,222.05

After declining for the nine straight days, the bulls

got some breathing space on May 14. It was a volatile
session, with the Nifty swinging wildly in the second
half of the day. In terms of Fibonacci retracement, the
38.2% retracement mark induced the bulls to stretch
their arms. Consequently, the positive divergence on
the hourly chart played out, resulting in a positive daily
close. On the higher side, 11280-11300 indeed proved
to be a key resistance zone. If the bulls manage to
take out that hurdle then 11370-11400 shall act as a
subsequent barrier. Nevertheless, overall trend for
60-minute
the index continues to be down. Once the bounce is
over, the Nifty can head lower towards the medium
term rising trendline drawn from the October low,
which is near 11000.

Other technical observations

On the daily chart, the Nifty is below the 20-day

moving average (DMA) and the 40-DEMA of 11569
and 11447, respectively. The momentum indicator is
bearish on the daily chart.

On the hourly chart, the Nifty is below the 20-hour

moving average (HMA) and the 40-HEMA of 11239 Market breadth
