Sinorix™ Silent Nozzle is an extinguishing nozzle made for Sinorix CDT and Sinorix 1230 extinguishing systems.
The nozzle has a specific linear design that smoothes the inflow of the inert gas into the protected area and
therefore reduces the noise.

All nozzles are drilled according to hydraulic calculations.

Each nozzle must be placed to its specific location within the distribution pipe network.

Sinorix™ 1230 extinguishing systems use containers with the agent FK-5-1-12, pressurized with Nitrogen to 42bar
at 20°C.
The pressure of the container is depending on the temperature:
- The container pressure will not exceed 53bar at 50°C
- The container pressure will not fall below 38bar at -20°C.

* Please use SAP field “Manufacturing instruction” to specify the desired orifice diameter in the T-Piece.
Drilling diameter should be ordered as multiple of 0.2mm (e.g. 12.4mm). Different orders will be rounded
up to the next 0.2mm multiple for manufacturing reasons (e.g. 12.3mm order will be executed as
12.4mm).
If needed – and only for inert gas applications – all types can be ordered with orifice diameter ≥ 3.0mm. The
type specific maximum diameter may not be exceeded at all.

Nozzle coefficients
 Sinorix Silent Nozzle is designed to be used with Sinorix CDT Systems such as CDT-R (N2/Ar/IG541/IG55),
CDT-V (N2) and Sinorix 1230. Nevertheless, Sinorix Silent Nozzle can be used to upgrade existing
unregulated Sinorix inert systems (N2/Ar/IG541/IG55) as long as the nominal pressure in the distribution
pipe network will never exceed 100bar.
 The nozzle coverage of the Sinorix Silent Nozzle is the same as for a standard nozzle with similar drilling
diameter and might be limited by local codes.
 The agent flow is only determined by the inlet orifice of the nozzle; the influences of the linear diffusers to
the gas flow are negligible.

Hydraulic calculation using the VdS software

The nozzle coefficients for Sinorix Silent Nozzle are stored in the VdS Software nozzle coefficient files (.noz),
starting from a specific version and newer.
Given by the nozzle orifice diameter as flow determining parameter, the Silent Nozzle has to be calculated as a
single bore nozzle.
VdS Software for Gas Nozzle coefficient file (.noz) as of version Register# of

CDT-V September 2013 CDTV… 20130920.noz 6

Nozzle positioning
 Install the nozzles at the correct locations according to isometrics and calculations.
 Orientate the outlet jets of the nozzle(s) to evenly distribute the agent into the protected area.
 No obstacles should be in the path of the nozzle outlet.
 Outlet jets should not directly point towards sensitive equipment such as server and storage cabinets.

Calculation of the evaporation distance by using the FK-5-1-12 (Novec 1230) VdS software
The VdS software calculates the distance needed for the evaporation of the FK-5-1-12 (Novec 1230) extinguishing
agent by using a model for conventional nozzles with flow determination by two up to four drillings with diameter
≥3.0mm.
The design of the Silent Nozzle with two stage pressure reduction and spraying by many small holes reduces the
distance needed to evaporate the extinguishing agent. Nevertheless, the values for „Jetdistance“ und „Evaporation
distance“ according to the VdS software have to be used for SDNS-x in FK-5-1-12 (Novec 1230) systems all the
time.

Application instructions
Sinorix Silent Nozzle is designed for use inside data center and server rooms. The extinguishing system should be
triggered by very sensitive point type or aspirating fire detectors.
Additional application instructions and information on noise reduced extinguishing can be obtained from the
whitepaper “Sinorix Silent Extinguishing”.

Installation instructions
 Check and clean the pipe network from dust and small particles which could obstruct the tiny linear diffuser
holes during discharge.
 Clean the thread on the nozzle and on the pipes. Remove any burrs.
 Apply Loctite 577 or other thread sealant to the male pipe thread.
 Fit the nozzle and tighten firmly.
 The linear diffusers can be used to tighten the nozzle. The force applied to the linear diffusers shall not
exceed 100N in any direction.
 The linear diffusers can be disassembled for installation of the nozzle in small spaces. See maintenance
instructions for details of disassembly / assembly of linear diffusers.
 Pay attention to the required orientation of the nozzle.

Nozzle orientation and fixation

Die nozzles should be aligned according the cabinet arrangement:

 Inert gas applications: In order to minimize the direct noise component, the spray pattern of the nozzles
should never be oriented towards sensitive IT cabinets.
 FK-5-1-12 (Novec 1230) applications: The discharge area should be kept free of obstacles up to the distance
needed for the evaporation of the agent. „Jetdistance“ and „Evaporation distance“ according to the VdS
software should be considered.

Fixation of nozzle / pipe network

Particularly the Silent Nozzle with asymmetrically spray pattern (SDNS-M-SC) creates
a strong force to the nozzle and pipe network.
The pipe network shall be supported by a strong fixation close to the nozzle.

Maintenance guidelines

The nozzle is maintenance free. Nevertheless, special attention should be paid to keep the tiny holes in the
linear diffuser unobstructed at all time. The linear diffuser holes should be checked for any dust or particles
inside the linear diffusers. This is particularly important after the nozzle has been used for any discharge.

The linear diffusers are attached by EO 24° connector to the T-Nozzle. The maintenance for Silent Nozzle
can either be performed in a workshop or with the nozzle remaining installed on the pipe network.

Instructions for disassembly, cleaning, inspection and re-assembly of the linear diffusers:
1. Take note of the T-Nozzle orifice drilling diameter, the linear diffuser position and orientation (left / right and
angle).
2. Uninstall the linear diffusers by carefully unscrewing the EO 24° connectors (use 50mm A/F wrench). Do
not overload the pipe network and pipe network fixation when releasing the EO 24° connectors.
3. If necessary clean the inside of the linear diffusers with compressed air or a bottle brush.
4. Inspect the tiny holes to prevent obstructed gas flow.
5. Clean and check the surfaces inside the EO 24° connectors.
6. Use the guiding pin to align the linear diffusers to the original orientation and carefully screw the EO 24° nut.
A bit of grease on the outer flange of the cut ring might help to keep the orientation aligned while fastening
the EO 24° nut.
7. Fasten and firmly tighten the EO 24° connectors while keeping the jet orientation aligned. Use good
engineering practice for the torque to be applied (90Nm).
8. Verify that the Silent Nozzle and the linear diffusers are identically refitted to the initial situation according to
the notes made in point 1.

Safety instructions

The Sinorix Silent Nozzle is designed for use in datacenters only. The extinguishing system should
be triggered by high sensitive point type or aspirating fire detectors.
