Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy Level(s):

☒ Remembering ☒ Understanding ☐ Applying ☐ Analyzing ☐ Evaluating ☒ Creating

Levels of Technology Integration:

☐ Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or Choice”
during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☒ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-
driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.
☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Students will get to choose how they want to present the information using Padlet, which provides a variety
of expression, engagement, and representation options. They can use any of the Padlet designs they think
would work best for them. Some students may find that for this lesson, the map design might help them best,
while others might use the canvas design to organize their thoughts.

Lesson idea implementation:

I will show the students my example and the Padlet website before we begin the lesson and make sure they
can create an account. As we go through the lesson, I want them to take notes using Padlet. They can choose
any design they want (canvas, map, timeline, wall, shelf, stream, grid, or backchannel). If they want to, they
can even team up with a partner to take notes more efficiently. This will be spread out over weeks as we
discuss the American Indians. They may create it however they want to.

At the end of the topic, I will have them each use Padlet to create a presentation, using their information
from my teachings as well as do some extra research, that they will share with the class. This way, each
student can get other students’ perspectives and other information if they missed any. They should then
know all of the information that was presented to them. I will assess them on their research/information and
readability on the Padlet as their grade for the lesson. They will not be graded on their presentation skills, as
the point is just to share the information and learn more. I will give them tips if needed.

Reflective Practice:
I hope these activities will open up students’ minds and show them how they can use technology differently
to achieve the same result in a way that works best for them. They will be doing research and taking
information from my lesson for their creations. I do not feel that there is much else I can do with it, since they
will also be presenting it and sharing it with an option to collaborate with other students. I think this will be
an effective use of technology for the students.
