Urban Teacher Training Collaborative Intern
Through Tufts University’s MAT Program, was paired with a mentor teacher in the science department, and worked in their classroom
with three grade ten college preparatory level biology classes and one grade twelve advanced placement (AP) level biology class. A
pre-practicum experience involved being in the classroom four days per week from September-December 2019. During this time,
observations were made in classes taught by my mentor teacher as well as other teachers in the department. Worked with students in
small groups and was responsible for going over each day’s warm up activity at the start of class. Took over teaching two sections of
college preparatory sophomore biology classes in January 2020 as part of the Tufts program’s practicum experience. Was responsible
for planning and carrying out lessons each day as well as grading assignments for these two classes.
Volunteer Work
Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra September 2015-Present
Active Member and Board Member
Perform on the violin in the orchestra’s first violin section. Attend weekly rehearsals and seasonal performances. Became a board
member of the group in December 2015. Duties include managing and maintaining the organization’s Facebook page and promoting
concerts and other events to online promo pages and local publishers.
UNE Marine Animal Rehabilitation and Conservation (MARC), Biddeford, ME October 2013-June 2014
Animal Care Volunteer
Assisted in the rehabilitation of various marine organisms, including four species of seals and one species of sea turtle. Duties
included preparing the animal’s daily feeds, assessing their overall health, aiding in daily maintenance and cleanup, as well as
assisting staff members with medical checkups on the animals. Was tour trained to educate the public and give tours of the facility to
school groups. Worked at two public releases, including MARC’s final seal release before its closure in June 2014.
