8.2 Exposure controls

Personal protection equipment

Eye/face protection
Eye glasses with side protection
Skin protection
Hand protection
There is no one glove material or combination of materials that will give unlimited resistance to any individual or
combination of chemicals. The breakthrough time must be greater than the end use time of the product. The
instructions and information provided by the glove manufacturer on use, storage, maintenance and replacement
must be followed. Gloves should be replaced regularly and if there is any sign of damage to the glove material.
Always ensure that gloves are free from defects and that they are stored and used correctly. The performance or
effectiveness of the glove may be reduced by physical/ chemical damage and poor maintenance. Barrier creams
may help to protect the exposed areas of the skin, they should however not be applied once exposure has occurred.
Suitable gloves type : Gloves with long cuffs
Suitable material : Butyl caoutchouc (butyl rubber) Butyl caoutchouc (butyl rubber)
Breakthrough time (maximum wearing time) : 480 min
Thickness of the glove material : 0,5 mm
Recommended glove articles : DIN EN 374
Additional hand protection measures : Check leak tightness/impermeability prior to use. Do not wear gloves
near rotary machines and tools. In the case of wanting to use the gloves again, clean them before taking off and air
them well.
Remark : The quality of the protective gloves resistant to chemicals must be chosen as a function of the specific
working place concentration and quantity of hazardous substances. For special purposes, it is recommended to
check the resistance to chemicals of the protective gloves mentioned above together with the supplier of these
gloves.
Body protection
Lab coat. Overall
Recommended material : Natural fibres (e.g. cotton) heat-resistant synthetic fibres
Respiratory protection
Usually no personal respirative protection necessary.
Remark
The filter class must be suitable for the maximum contaminant concentration (gas/vapour/aerosol/particulates) that
may arise when handling the product. If the concentration is exceeded, self-contained breathing apparatus must be
used.
General health and safety measures
Wash hands before breaks and after work. Apply skin care products after work.
