V. RATIONALE:
With the LGBT community gaining in numbers each day, it is becoming increasingly necessary for LGBT education to be
taught in different platforms. Many countries still do not have an LGBT education class in their schools, and a few allow LGBT issues
to be taught in a negative manner or how the teacher feels is necessary, which is not always positive. However, LGBT education is a
necessity if we want youth to be accepting of their LGBT peers and for LGBT youth to be alive and healthy.
The inclusion of LGBT topics in teaching of history and social sciences are also advocated by topics in order to increase pride
and self-respect among LGBT students and reduce shame or self-pity for the lack of emphasis upon famous LGBT persons. Sex
education. With regards to the topic, it is somewhat important to acknowledge what it is like to be labeled as LGBT. Often people use
words that may relate to the LGBT community with a negative annotation. For example, phrases like "that's so gay" or "you are being
a faggot", suggest that being gay is a "bad" thing. The more we allow this kind of communication, it will only continue to be a
criticized expression. As we all know, social media is the best way to reach a wider audience which is why I chose my project to
create my own platform in social media to be able to educate other people regarding this matter.
I chose to implement this program since I am a part of the LGBT community myself. Three of the Louisian values I would want
to emphasize in this project is social involvement, creativeness and Christian spirit. Social involvement by spreading awareness about
a community I care about, creativeness by using social media, I will be creating my own content and own infographics in the website I
will be making, and lastly is Christian spirit, as a Christian I want to deepen my love for the Lord and as try to grow in knowledge of
Jesus and his way, loving all His creations no matter who they are and who they want to be as long as they are not harming anyone is
a way that I could live a life as a true Christian.

IX: Impact Assessment

Many people are guilty of discrimination against LGBT youths, whether consciously or unconsciously. LGBT youths are faced
with daily discrimination from society, peers, family and even school teachers and administrations. LGBT youths lack support and
guidance but also prove how much these youths are clearly affected, in more ways than one, by discrimination. Cole (2007) mentions
that there is a higher rate of abuse, neglect, and discrimination against LGBT youths than heterosexual youths. I believe that most
parents would prefer their children to be straight than to be gay, and most school officials also prefer straight students over gay
students. This preference could be a contributing factor in discrimination against LGBT youths. This project will hopefully capture the
attention of parents, teachers and any other ordinary individual in this planet to perhaps help modify their outlook on LGBT youths.
Fundamentally, I will attempt to be able to give necessary information throughout the project: What are the effects of discrimination
against LGBT youths? What is the role of the parents? What is the role of the schools? How can parents and schools work together to
help minimize discrimination against LGBT youths? What can we possibly do as an ordinary individual to be able to help the LGBT?
What more can be done? The two primary sources that have the power and ability to diminish discrimination against LGBT youths are
schools and parents. In my opinion, they are the ones who have the greatest influence on LGBT youths and in turn have the ability to
reduce drug abuse, educational failure, and suicides. Parents and schools need to realize how much they can help diminish the effects
of discrimination against LGBT youths if they work together and productively.
