“POVERTY”
Today, our country faces, struggle, and suffer from different problems, one of this
problem isn’t new but we can say an enduring one. Poverty in our country has become a major
issue. Although a lot of organizations were formed to seek solution to this issue, but still no one
could fully rescue our country from poverty. The most common truth we should know about
poverty is that poverty exists mostly in developing country like Philippines.

According to Asian Development Bank, the major causes of poverty are having a low
economic growth, a weak agricultural sector, increased population rates, and sad to say but
also a high volume of inequality can cause poverty. Because of these factors, there is a lot effect
of poverty in the Philippines that make it difficult for people to live in such circumstances. It is
an alarming fact that many Filipinos are unable to afford housing. Hunger is one of the extreme
effects of poverty in the Philippines and also the reason on having a higher percentage of
malnutrition in our country. With poverty taking a toll on Filipinos, parents often can make
enough money to sustain their family needs, so that children at their young age forced to work
rather than attending school. There are also too many people who doesn’t have enough
resources, and with such condition, people become desperate and practice drastic measures to
provide for themselves and their families. In addition, poverty also resulted to prostitution in a
way that women and even men sell their flesh just to earn money in able to provide their
needs. These outcomes made me realized how serious problem the poverty is and how can I
help our country from this burden.

The Philippines are made of Filipinos. Thus, if we want to put an action to lessen people
suffer from poverty, we need an action of all Filipinos. And who is the closest Filipino from you?
Isn’t it yourself? Therefore, we as a Filipino student, the only thing we can do to solve this issue
is to study hard and be productive person in able to achieve our dreams, This may lead on
having a brighter future with enough resources. In that way, we do our part in our country to
lessen the percentage of people suffer from poverty. Thank you.
