ADP - Project 1B

The document proposes a Cultural Experience Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia that focuses on showcasing traditional Malay culture. It will benefit both local artisans and foreign visitors. The center's design takes cues from the Junshan Cultural Centre in China, incorporating strategies like connecting indoor and outdoor spaces with courtyards, bridges, and green roofs to allow natural light and ventilation. The center's spaces include exhibition areas, studios, shops, and dormitories spread across three floors. Plans, elevations, sections and models showcase the final proposed design.

THE “BIG” IDEA

TAN YIN YEE 0329499 MR LIU’S TUTORIAL GROUP

Malaysia is a multicultural country. KL,
as the capital of Malaysia therefore
gathers a huge diversity of culture in
one place.

My Cultural Experience Center will be

focusing on traditional Malay culture of
Malaysia.

13 states in Malaysia, more than 13 types

of culture, they are being classified
into 4 main categories which includes
traditional performing art, traditional
arts and craft, traditional dance as well
as traditional game.

The targeted beneficiaries for my

Cultural Experience Center are the local
artisans and foreigners. Local artisans
(the “organ”), by introducing
traditional Malay culture of Malaysia to
foreigner (the “blood”) in the building
(the “system”), therefore completes the
whole mechanism.
