CONSTRUCTIONAL DETAILS:

Angle Dekkor consists of a collimator tube which can be clamped in any

desired position along a protruding arm capable of rotating through 180 0.
This arm can be lowered or raised and clamped at any convenient position
along a swiveling arm which swings along sturdy base. Base is having
approximate dimensions 230mm x 308mm and a surface plate is placed over
it and it is to be ground finish to an accuracy of 20microns. The instrument
is supplied in a wooden box along with a light regulating step down
transformer operatable on 240v ± 6% single phase 50Hz A.C mains.

The Collimator tube consists of achromatic objective, beam splitter up to

60x60 minutes of arc at the focal plane of objective and on w.f.. 10x
eyepiece for viewing and measurements.

The image of transmitted type target cross line graticule is projected along
line of sight with the help of a 12 v , 6watts bulb , condensing lens from the
sight of the tube with the help of beam splitter.
A graduated micrometer head is provided for reading up to an accuracy of 2
seconds. Another micrometer provides 15 free motion of target graticule of
centering purpose.

Lamp is of 12v, 6w and is illuminated directly on mains through transformer

with rheostat for brightness control.

MEASUREMENT BY ANGLE DEKKOR:

The angle dekkor is basically a telescope permanently focused at infinity and

incorporating an illuminated target graticule in the focal plane of lens. Every
point of graticule produces a parallel(collimated) beam of light by the lens
and parallel beam of light entering the lens are brought to the focus in the
focal plane. The instrument uses one of the basic principle of reflection that
parallel beam of light projected on plane reflector square to the beam, is
reflected along same path.

Whenever reflector is tilted with respect to the incident beam the return
angle of the reflected beam is twice the angular displacement of the
reflector. The amount of this displacement can be read of directly through
instrument eyepiece or by micrometer.

In order that the target graticule can be illuminated without interference to

the line of sight,

The autocollimator incorporates a beam splitter. This directs the image of

the target graticule in the principle focal plane of the objective lens along
the axis of autocollimator.

……2

The reflected beam passing straight through the beam splitter is brought to
the focus on the eyepiece graticule. The eyepiece graticule and the
reflected image of the target graticule are both viewed simultaneously
through the eye piece. Images of the target graticule are always seen in the
focus at constant magnification whether the reflector is up against the
telescope or at its farthest working distance.
MEASURE THE ANGLE OF GIVEN WORKPIECE:

The instrument is kept in position, as shown in the fig. Which means the
barrel set up is perpendicular to the surface plate. Make the cross wire and
the scale reading in the lens coincide with each other at 0 position by using
the reflecting mirror and also keep the dial reading at 0.

The work piece to be measured is checked by the bevel protractor and note
down the angle before it is checked with the Angle Dekkor

The Master work piece is placed on the surface plate and reflected mirror is
placed over the surface of the work piece

Check the overlapping between the work piece and reflecting mirror in the
correct position. i.e. there is no gap between the surfaces.

Set the master piece to the 0 position in the scale reading with respect to
the Crosswire that can be seen in the eyepiece.
For Fine adjustment, use Zero adjustment knob which is located above the
eyepiece. The sample piece is placed in the same position of the master piece
under the reflecting mirror without disturbing barrel of the Angle Dekkor
then note down the minutes reading. The variation in the sample piece is
identified with respect to master piece.

ASSEMBLING:

(1) First place Angle Dekkor base on a level table. Fix the adjustable link
at 90 with respect to base by insert spring into the hole and placing
large washer and screwing stud on one side and tightening the lever on
another side , provided at the bottom of link.
(2) Fix the Barrel holder in the adjustable link with the barrel holder
support.

(3) Insert the barrel holder and tight the metal coated lever *3(as per
drawing)

(4) Insert the barrel into the barrel holder and tight the lever *4( as per
drawing)

(5) Connect the power supply.

POWER SUPPLY:

1. 230V, 5A Input Main Switch

2. 230V, 5A Regulator
3. 5 A, fuse
4. Two Pin Top, M/P
5. 230V, Input, 6 Volts output transformer.
6. 6 V, 10 Watts Halogen bulb.
7. 3 Pin Power Chord.

CONNECTIONS:
Give supply from the main switch to the adapter and from adapter to the
light source.

How to take readings:

1. First take the main dial reading from barrel holder.
2. Then take direct reading as minutes which seen inside the eyepiece.
3. For seconds reading take the reading from 0-60 micrometer.

If the Micrometer shows the reading as follows: …… 4

…5
The direct reading comes as follows:

1. Either move the cross wire to 19’ or 20’.

2. Move the cross wire by adjusting the 0-60” micrometer

3. Consider that you have moved to 19’

4. While adjusting 0-60” micrometer note down initial reading and final
reading.

5. Suppose if 4 division has been moved in 0-60” micrometer, it indicated

that it is 8 seconds. Since 1 DIVISION=2 SECONDS.

6. Also, note the angle reading (e.g): 30

7. Therefore now the Angular reading is = 30 19’ 8”

Suppose if you have moved to 20’, it will travel 52”second therefore the
same value can be obtained.

NOTE:

1. Cross wire adjustment can be made with the help of barrel bottom
Plano Convex Lens setup.

2. 2 ½ feet height table suitable for instrument.

3. In Eyepiece, Knurling portion for adjusting the focal length and do not
adjust just below the knurling of the eye piece.

4. Minutes adjustment knob to zero setting for standard angle gauges.

i.e.1 MINUTES = 2 DIVISION in main scale that can be seen in the
eyepiece.

5. 0-60 micrometer for seconds reading.

6. For removing the rust preventive oil, clean with cloth dipped in petrol.
