SOCIO-ECONOMIC REVIEW 2018-19
• Ahmedabad: The Gross State Domestic product (GSDP) at constant-price this year 2018-19 grew by 9.2% against the year
2017-18. The GSDP was estimated to be 11,90,121 crores in 2018-19 as against 10,89,811 crore in 2017-18.
• The socio economic review for the year 2019-20 states that the GSDP at current prices in year 2018-19 increased by 13.1%
at Rs 15,01,944 crores as against13,28,068 crores in 2017-18.
• The review points that the per capita income at current prices has been at Rs 1,97,447 in the year 2018-19 as against
revised per capita income estimated of Rs 1,73,079 in the year 2017-18. The socio-economic review states that the per
capita income of Gujarat is 56.06% higher than the country’s per capita income of Rs 1,26,521.
• The socio-economic review stated that according to the second advance estimates, production of food grains during the
year 2019-20 is estimated to be 80.7 lakh tonnes compared to 68 lakh tonnes during the year 2018-19. The production of
oil seeds is pegged at 54.2 lakh tonnes in 2019-2020 as against 37.3 lakh tonnes in 2018-19.
• The production of groundnut is estimated at 32,61,000 tonnes during the year 2019-20 against 22,03,000 tonnes in 2018-
19. Also, during the year 2019-20 the production of cotton bales (each of 170kg) is estimated at 87.1 lakh bales against
production of 62.8 lakh bales during the year 2018-19.
