    Truly Grow

    1 Corinthians 3:1-2

    But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people but as people of the flesh, as
    infants in Christ. I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even
    now you are not yet ready.

    An infant lives on milk those first months of its life. He can’t handle anything else because
    he is just a baby. He doesn’t have the teeth and the digestive system to handle solid food
    yet.

    Ganito ang mga taga-Corinto, ayon kay Paul nung sila ay kasama niya. He had planted the
    church there. Karamihan sa kanila were new converts through his ministry. They were
    babies in the faith, so he gave them the truth of the gospel in simple form which was easy
    for them to take in and digest and use. Ngunit sa paglipas ng taon ng pagmiministeryo sa
    kanila ay gatas pa din ang kailangan nila. The Corinthian church was fleshy. Mahal nila ang
    mundo at ang mga bagay sa mundo. Naimpluwensiyahan sila. They were prideful. Itinataas
    nila ang karunungan ng tao kaysa sa karunungan ng Dios. They weren’t being the kind of
    testimony they should be to others.

    Bilang mananampalataya, we still have our old nature. Hindi na ito ang nagrurule sa atin
    pero still effects us. It is a continual battle that we have to fight. We need to be spiritual. Ibig
    sabihin, we need to be controlled by the Holy Spirit.

    The Corinthians seemed to have a problem with continuous immaturity. They just weren’t
    growing. They were staying at the same level spiritually or maybe even going backwards!

    People come week after week and hear the sermons and sit there, but never really change
    their lifestyle or grow. Naging complacent at nasatisfied na sa spiritual lives nila because
    they feel secure in their relationship to God. Iniisip na sapat na yung natanggap nila na
    kaligtasan. Gustong umaattend ng worship service once a week pero very satisfied sa
    kanilang wordly lives, jobs, careers, entertainment at kung ano ano pa

    Madaling tumingin sa ibang tao at sabihin, ganyan nga sila, pero how about us? How about
    me? Minsan parang ganyan din ako. Minsan okay na ako sa level ng maturity at
    understanding ko. Nagiging kampante dahil sa napakaraming inooffer ng mundo na
    naeenjoy o minamahal ko na. That is why we need and we must continue to push forward.
    Gaano man karami na ang ating natutunan at napag-aralan, kailangan nating magpatuloy
    na lumalim sa salita ng Dios. Huwag tayong makampante at manatiling baby. Dahil
    napakasagana ng biyayang karunungan at kaalaman ng Dios na nakalaan para sa atin na
    hindi makakayang tanggapin at unawain ng isang sanggol.
    Do you think you are growing and becoming more and more mature? Or do you think you
    are still kind of worldly and taking milk like the Corinthians?

    Ipanalangin at pag-isipan po nating maigi ito. Make a decision to pursue God with your
    whole heart and grow. Huwag lang po tayo umattend ng worship services, magbible study
    o magbasa ng devotion na tulad nito. But, truly grow. Become more and more Christlike all
    the time.
