Chapter I

Introductory Page

The proposed cafe in a yacht is named Cafe 'n Cruise that was derived from the

leveling up of the idea of building a coffee shop business. A lot of cafes have been rising

in the city, taking advantage of the growing demand of students' and professionals' need

of a place to unwind or mostly to do their school and job-related paper works. Cafe 'n

Cruise, on the other hand, wanted to make a change in this norm. We opted to side on

the idea of cafes as the place where people can unwind and forget the daily stresses of

life. Most people do unwind by traveling to places away from what they call "reality". We

all know that Bantayan Island is now one of the famous beaches not just in Cebu but in

the country. Many tourists visit the place in hope that they can enjoy a beautiful

paradise. With this stated fact, the principals wanted to take advantage of the growing

number of tourists in the island and are planning to situate our cafe there but it is not just

the only reason. It is also a form of reaching out to the people living in the island as to let

them experience another means of enjoyment to be offered in their place. F. Duarte

Street, Santa Fe, Bantayan Cebu is the perfect place to build this kind of business.

satisfied by what we offer by that they will visit again the place which is Bantayan and at

the same time our Café for it hits individuals wants.

Café ‘n Cruise aims at providing the best of care and service for the valued

customers. The company wanted to be a kind of place that is cozy, peaceful, and

satisfying to the customers that would make their visit a worthwhile. The overall goal of

the business to let the customers enjoy their stay in the Island and sending them away

happy - happy enough to pass positive feedback about the business along to others,

who may then try the product or service you offer for themselves and in their turn

become repeat customers. Apparently, here are some of the things that the business

caters in providing excellent quality service:

Location – Café ‘n Cruise is placed inside a large yacht that is parked near Sta. Fe

Beach, Bantayan. The arising number of tourists going to Bantayan Island has become

an opportunity to build up a coffee shop business wherein people can unwind their

thoughts and relieve their stress with books, drinks, and sweets around. Café ‘n Cruise

as well can turn into a new tourist spot in the place since it is the first coffee shop to ever

placed near the beach. Surely, the location of the business will attract people for

everything around the place seems so natural because of the fair weather, ocean

breeze, plus the lovely sunset. It will surely be a breath of fresh air for everyone.

Good ambiance – Café ‘n Cruise also has its impressive ambiance such as the cozy

seats and furniture with modern design that would match the kind of vibe people

nowadays prefer. It is also air conditioned to ensure and keep the customers

comfortable especially for those tourists who are not yet used to the Philippine heat.

There are also books displayed inside the café for those customers who might like to

read during their stay.

Good accommodation – Good customer service is the lifeblood of the business. Café ‘n

Cruise has also secured good quality service for the customers. As customers plays a

big role in determining whether a business will have a long run in the industry, Café ‘n

Cruise made sure to acquire well-trusted and responsible service crew and even trained

them in order for them to be effective in work. The business ensures that their staff will

be able to help the customers efficiently and assist them in the best of their abilities.

Safety – Part of the customer service that the business offers is to ensure the overall

safety of the customers. Since the café is basically in a yacht, accidents may happen in

all sorts of things especially that it is near in the seawater. Café ‘n Cruise however

provides remedies to prevent these circumstances by having life guards and security
personnel that is roaming around the place. In this way, the customers will enjoy their

time in the café with less worry in mind.

Since we are just starting, our business is just a small one. We are just

occupying the space of a yacht. It is not a big nor small but just a perfect space to a

starting business. The number of customers that can accommodate our yacht is 40-50

people since they can also occupy the upper part of the yacht. Since, we are inclined to

a cafe business, we can offer you an Ice cream coffee, Smoothies and Cupcakes for

dessert. Like the typical cafe shops, we are also providing books, so that the customers

will enjoy while they’re drinking or eating their order.

Chapter V

gathered all the skills and conditions necessary to understand all the requirements

involved in an investment in the areas of baking and pastry, offering value propositions

the best quality / price ratio in the market. We are highly delegated well-established

facilities, all require equipment to prepare baked goods. We have always been known for
supplying leading technology equipment and providing any and all the equipment that a

large-scale cafe would run an efficient business.

These are the machines and equipment used in our cafe:

Coffee maker

Blender

Stove

Oven

ice shaver

deep fryer

refrigerator

freezer

pressure cooker

spoon

fork

knife

mug

glass

plate

small plat
The café must have racks to store baked goods from suppliers before they will be

served or displayed in the café’s counter. Racks are built to hold specific types of pans.

Chapter VI

Operations Plan

Café 'n Cruise aims to leave a good impression to its customers and mark on

their minds the specialty it has to offer. One effective way to show this is through the

daily basis operation of the business. Thus, the company has a lot of things to consider

and think over several times in order to fully evaluate on what things that would greatly

help to bring out good image of business and gain positive feedbacks from the

customers. This also includes having the ability to organize well with the workers, able to

distribute tasks and responsibilities, and showcase good customer service among

others. True enough that the totality of the business operation would somewhat

determine the satisfaction of its customers. Out of the many things that a business must

indulge on, here are some of the things that Café 'n Cruise focus more on:

Opening/Closing Hours - Café 'n Cruise will open as early as 8 am in the morning and

closes at 11 at night. By eight o'clock, the Café is already open and ready to serve

customers who are by that time passing by or even those who are anticipating for its

open time. However, the Café could not be open for 24 hours for it is situated on a yacht

that may be hard and risky on the part of the company since it is hard to fully

accommodate and ensure everyone's safety. Duty Call - Employees hired by the

company are obliged to do their respective tasks and responsibilities efficiently. The

overall staffing of the business has deeply gone through a deep evaluation in choosing
highly competent, well-mannered, and effective workers as their jobs affects big time on

how customers see the business. Security - It might become a worrisome for others to

visit Café 'n Cruise considering that it will be on a yacht and accidents may happen

especially if it is on water. Now in order for this to avoid becoming into a threat on the

business, there will be life guards, life jackets, and life buoys all around in the place.

Also, life guards are especially assigned to watch over things that may cause trouble or

accident. Maintenance - To preserve the equipment and other technical things owned by

the business, it is just right to handle it with most care. After all, the yacht itself serves as

the main location of the business so mind as well always keep it clean and pretty to look

at. Emergency - The location of the business is indeed indifferent from other businesses.

Since it is situated on the seawater, it is not impossible for accidents to happen as well

as calamities. The business will always go for the everyone's safety first so for every

time there is a possible calamity such as typhoons, the Café will definitely close for the

mean time and resume until the weather is back at being stable and safe again.

The Café ‘n Cruise will purchase raw materials directly from suppliers, because

through this, it eliminates the broker or middle man. The material will then be transferred

to the café which serves as the warehouse and the business itself through a motorized

boat. Some of the materials will be used in making the actual product and some for

storage. The products purchased will be good for two weeks.

The business entails making house rules to have peace and order in the café

and as well as for the welfare of the customers and the business. The management

decided to not allow pets inside the café for the safety of other customers inside the

café. Parents having children below three years old must make sure that they will give
extra attention to their kids. And lastly, when something will be broken, they must pay

the cost of the thing.

In order to make our business stand out we make sure to keep our customers

serve with great foods. However, to make them keep coming back in our cruise we

provide impeccable service, too. Great service starts with an efficient cafe. Traditional

solutions such as paper tickets can lead to longer cook times, and dry erase boards at

the host stand can cause bottlenecks with your front of house. Modernizing a café with

technology and hardware is a surefire way to improve the efficiency and enhance the

guest experience. These are the technologies we use to run our business productively.

Cafe Management Software

Having the right technology is an important part of running an efficient business.

Here are some solutions that help best in managing the café:

POS - this is what we also call as Touchscreen Terminal (point of sale) can easily select

the menu items customers order. It will also collect data so you can later review your

sales history. It is a software designed with an intuitive interface that lets the staff start

taking order immediately and effortlessly. An easier order-taking process speeds things

up, which leads to more orders coming into the kitchen (and more products coming out).

Pole Display - show the itemized price and it will display food items as they are charged

so that customers can easily follow along with their bill. It will also display the total cost

for the items purchased by customers. The pole display integrates with the POS to

gather charges. Since this is a legal requirement in some areas of the country and this

item is really useful in the café.

Receipt Printer – this digital receipt is as beneficial to efficiency, most cafes - especially

full-service cafe – primarily uses paper receipts through receipt printers.

Cash Drawer - above all else, a cash drawer is essential for all types of business this will

value safety and efficiency. It's not exactly the newest piece of technology on this list, but

it speaks to how proven and true it is for all cafes, restaurants, malls, convenience

stores, etc. Ours is more on modern approach because we sync it up with the POS so

that all transactions can be recorded. Naturally, we also decided to lock the cash drawer

overnight and empty it out regularly for added security.

Kitchen Display System - Some cafes have a quite hectic kitchen, and so printed tickets

might not be the most viable option. (KDS) is found in the back of cruise of the cafe and

replaces the paper tickets and kitchen printers. This will manage the food routing, recipe

storage, and holds important kitchen data. Mounted to the kitchen wall, this will show all

open orders for the back-of-cruise team to see in one place. It has many benefits

including organizing the back of the cruise, improving efficiency, reducing ticket times,

and raising the product quality.

Controller - this is where customers’ orders are received, organized, and processed to

be displayed on the KDS. The controller is the equivalent to a computer tower – it helps

power the kitchen display system to ensure it operates at a high rate. Kitchen controllers

are made to withstand harsh and high-temperature kitchen environments, making them

durable and long lasting for cafes.

Bump Bars - this assists the KDS in order management. Kitchen staff use bump bars to

clear orders that have been served and helps create a more efficient kitchen. Similar to

kitchen controllers, bump bars are built to withstand harsh and high-temperature kitchen

environments.
Financial Software and Technology

Successful business owners know how important it is to track and manage

finances. The following technology help keep a close eye on the coffee shop's funds:

Accounting software – the using of cloud accounting software surely keep a detailed

general ledger. It can connect with the online banking and other solutions, so our

records are always up to date.

Payroll software – employee hours, wages, benefits, and withholdings can be managed

using payroll software.

Receipt app – if we will make purchases for our coffee shop while out and about, we

make sure we can instantly record the expense using a receipt app on the mobile phone.

Inventory Management – integrates with other technology in the cafe to manage

inventory. This will help us to plan menu, track food usage, calculate COGS (cost of

goods sold), determine food costs, and control wastes. This is very essential to

managing waste, theft, spoilage, and over-production.

Marketing Technology

We surely can stand apart from other coffee shops and cafes with a sound

marketing strategy. And the following technology will greatly help us execute it.

Website – this will make it easy for potential customers to find out important information

about our coffee shop, like our menu, hours, and location. Other way, we also use it to

showcase what makes our coffee shop or cafe unique.

Social media – in addition to a website, we make sure that our coffee shop must have an

active social media profiles or accounts to be followed by the public or the customers.
Online reviews/local directories – many people consult online review sites before

deciding what coffee shop or cafe to visit. We will be learning more about managing our

business’s reviews in this blog post.

Chapter VII

Marketing Plan

Café ‘n Cruise has a variety of products, which includes drinks, desserts and

pastries, offered in fixed prices. It ranges from Php180 – Php300 on the drinks and

Php100 – Php300 in desserts and pastries. These prices are competitive enough to the

market industry. It may seem higher than the other competitors but the management

makes sure that the prices are reasonable and the products and services are worth the

price. The customers are not only paying for the food and drinks they consume but also

the ambiance that the place offers and of course the experience it will give the people

who will try the services and other forms of entertainment the café will offer. The prices

are set in consideration of the cost of goods used to create the products and other

utilities the café will provide to its customers. With these set of price range, the café shall

be able to get their return of investment in three years time.

All products and services offered by the café shall be distributed through the

coffee shop’s physical store. Café ‘n Cruise engages itself in direct selling that the

products goes directly to the customers who will be going to the café. It will not be much

of a hassle to the customers because there are order counters available at the entrance

of the shop and waiters are enough in numbers to provide quick and adequate service to

the expected number of customers. The staffs and personnel will also undergo trainings

before the café will officially open to ensure the quality service that the business

promised. If the business goes well in the next few years then we will be open to the

idea of offering delivery services to customers who wants to try the products but won’t

have the chance to go to the physical shop.

In order to gain customers our team is planning to promote our business in any

ways of promotion. It can be in magazines, newspapers, radios and television news. The

team also wants to put some tarpaulins on the streets, we will assure first if the place is

free to put tarpaulins there. Also, we want to extend more our promotions in some easier

ways, it can be through our Facebook page, Twitter or even Instagram. We can also give

our contact number in order for the customers to directly reach us. And lastly, we will use

our sales talk strategies and skills in order for us to garner customers.

Human resources

Cafe n' cruise recruitment of full time employees are required to have

characteristics that assures the stability and success of the business. Workers of the

cafe must be multi-taskers, they must have knowledge in terms of the basics, like

serving coffee, receiving orders, entertaining customers politely and properly, operating
cash registers and having patience but what makes it better from other cafes is that the

employees need to have special abilities such as being flexible and open to experiences

they need to have an innovative mindset in terms of creating new and unique recipes

that would satisfy the desires of the customers. The cafe employees themselves are in

charge of the menus, proposing new menus from time to time to let customers try new

and improved recipes. Such employees need to show off their skills and interests in

working in the cafe, since we are hiring baristas we will be expecting the best menus the

cafe can offer. Employees must also come with good character, being respectful,

hospitable, and punctual. As for the accounting department, it is given that they should

be knowledgeable in terms of keeping account of the business' assets and expenses,

they also need to have good attitude towards their responsibilities.

Nonhuman resources

Cafe n' cruise is practical in terms of handling time and money but venturesome

in terms of handling properties and facilities which makes the business safe and fun at

the same time. Choices of resources for the business needs to be done carefully and

accordingly which holds the future performance of the business. Practical usage of time

and money means that there is no time to waste in processing and circulating the life of

the business for the business to be continuously successful. The company sees a vision

of the future of the business through thinking outside of the box and having ideas of what

would make Cafe n' Cruise different from other cafes by handling and purchasing

innovative properties and facilities.

Chapter VIII

crew member will be expected to provide customers with a quick and accurate service

and show sensitivity to their individual needs. Food preparation and cooking the wide

variety of food we offer involves using a broad range of equipment and tools. We need to

produce orders to a consistently high standard and understand that quality control is

vital. Cleanliness and hygiene requires thorough training in order to maintain our high

standards. We use a variety of cleaning utensils and chemical cleaning products along

with the correct protective equipment is highly important.

It entails providing services to customers, such as drinks and foods in the

friendliest manner possible. For the fact that workers come in contact with a lot of people

daily, it is important that they possess rather cheery dispositions, and also be most

willing to greet clients as they come into the café. They should be available to take

orders from clients and should have the ability to serve clients satisfactorily.

Assessment of Risk

Weaknesses of the Business

Online Presence

Since our business is new and we are just starting to create a name online or

through the internet, there is a chance that potential customers will have a hard time to

find our own website or social profiles. Consumers are increasing the use of Internet to

research companies, find their contact information and browse their inventories. Thus,

this might be one of our company’s shortcoming which we can surely fix as early as we

can.

Branding and Reputation

Our company is aware of the fact that there are better and more remarkable

brand in the business industry than us. Competitors may have already established good

reputation to the market compared to our newly started business. However, this

weakness is prevalent when customers are already familiar with a specific store or

brand, and then a new business name creates or offers a competing product or service.

Companies with better brand recognition, and established reputations, see a higher

percentage of the market share, which is a potential weakness for our business.

Limited Resources
The fact that we are just starting shows that our company’s resources are not as

abundant like other existing business. Nevertheless, due to the starting capital also we

assume that we will begin as small since we are still on the way in establishing our name

in the business industry. This means to say that our resources; equipment &

machineries will be limited at for this moment.

Marketing Budget

Marketing is a key factor in promoting products and services to customers,

whether through pay-per-click campaigns or by offering product samples to potential

customers. Due to our financial setting as of the moment, our business expected to have

a limited budget for marketing, this will be a major weakness that can affect how much of

the market share a business acquires, and how high its sales are from quarter to

quarter.

Human Resources

Limited human resources is a weakness in new business and this includes

having a small staff and minimal employees which makes it difficult to tackle every item

on the company's to-do list. On the other hand, a company with a full staff that lacks the

skills and training necessary to perform tasks can be a hindrance to an organization.

However, employee skills and competencies might affect the performance and efficiency

of the company. Therefore, we expect to strictly hire people who can definitely pass

certain qualifications and is willing to undergo training.

When you are building or creating a business you are not looking only for money

or profit but the future of your business. Risk and Uncertainty are always there in a

business whether you expect it or not. Since we are still starting and new as a business
entity there is a risk possibility that our company will have lower and anticipated profits or

even experience a loss rather than taking a profit because we are located at Bantayan

and we all know that it is very seasonal when having a large number of customers and

visitors there so we gain more profit if it is summer time because it is the season that

many visitors will come and notice the beautiful place. Also, we are not the one who

builds a business like this there it also has a lot to visit there the resorts, hotel etc. that

visitor may stay and chill or have fun. There are also possibilities that customers may

enjoy only in the beach. But with the help of the advancement of technology it can be

easy for us to convince them through advertisement approach since we are building a

business that is café and a little classy we might put a flat screen television outside the

yacht or above the door as where they entrance and make a slideshow of what benefit

they get to our business it is very cheap and affordable and at the same time a classy

and they can enjoy taking pictures there because it is not an ordinary café we have a

mini library where they can have peace in mind and relax. Advancement of technology is

really helpful nowadays because millennial and adults are into technology and that’s part

of societal issues where they can’t have fun without technology because in technology

you can work easily and it is very instant you don’t have to wait longer. In our business

technologies are fit for our target is to offer the satisfaction that they can say in

vernacular “Balik niya ta dri bai”

Cafe n Cruise will start and run a business and it is an inherently risky practice

because there is no guarantee that new venture will attain profitability. Unforeseen

events or disasters can be especially harmful to a business. Given the fact that there are

so many competitors for serving delicious products. It seems hard for Cafe n Cruise to
be able to break into the market. But then, Cafe n Cruise made the best contingency

plan by introducing its specialty for their products.

Risks for success in Cafe n Cruise can be lessened, but never completely

negated. For example, their trusted supplier increases their price as a result of drought

in their farm for supplying coffee, if coffee prices spike because of being drought, the

contingency plan for Cafe n Cruise is to purchase other brand coffee from different farm.

If Cafe n Cruise made a supply outside the country and when global supply chains are

interrupted because of world events, a contingency plan for Cafe n Cruise is to establish

a partnership with local suppliers. If the located area of Cafe n Cruise does not work out.

Cafe n Cruise will move where the population is more affluent and likely to purchase

Cafe n Cruise products and services.
