How Artificial Intelligence can change

the world?
Mathematician Alan Turing changed the history with his question “Can machines think”?
Turing’s paper “Computing machinery and intelligence” and its subsequent Turing test
established the fundamental goal and vision of artificial intelligence. Further, Norvig and
Russell explored 4 different approaches that have historically defined the field of Artificial
Intelligence:

Thinking Humanly

Thinking Rationally

Acting Humanly

Acting Rationally

All these efforts towards the vision of artificial intelligence have been thought of as an
endeavor to replicate or simulate human intelligence in machines. Artificial Intelligence
makes it possible for machines to learn from experience, adjust to new inputs and perform
human-like tasks. From the voice of Siri to self-driving cars, artificial intelligence is
progressing rapidly with the basic goal that AI’s impact on society beneficial research in
areas from economics to technical topics such as verification, validity, security and control.

AI is the set of minds who take positive view and believe that artificial intelligence is
expected to increase the number of jobs multiple times. According to a report by McKinsey,
14% of workforce would be required to change their occupations over next 10-15 years and
another report by Pew Research stated that 38% of current jobs could be automated soon.

Artificial Intelligence works by combining large amounts of data with fast, iterative
processing and intelligent processing and algorithms, allowing the software to learn
automatically from patterns or features in data. It is a broad field of study that includes
many theories, methods and technologies, as well as major subfields like Machine Learning,
neural networks, Deep learning, cognitive computing, etc. Focusing on Machine Learning, it
automates analytical model building. It uses methods from statistics, neural networks,
operations research and physics to find hidden insights in data without explicitly being
programmed for where to look or what to conclude.

Talking about AI in today’s world, we should consider working together with AI because it is
not here to replace us but it is here to augment us to work more efficiently.

Interestingly, AI algorithms learn differently than humans and hence they can see the
relationships and partnerships that escape us. Every industry has a high demand for AI

patent searches, risk notification and medical research.

The human and AI partnership can: -


1. Bring analytics to industries and domains where it is currently underutilized.
2. Improve the performance of existing analytic technologies, like computer vision and
time series analysis.
3. It can breakdown the economic barriers, language and translation barriers.
Thus, AI can give us a better vision, better understanding and much more.

Artificial Intelligence possess the power to change the world because it will automate
repetitive learning and discovery through data. It would tend to add intelligence to existing
products as it adapts through progressive learning algorithms. With the advent of
technology, AI is expected to get most out of data by achieving incredible accuracy with
analysis of more and deeper data.
