Please see my responses below, which I believe should be concise and clear. Each paragraph
shall answer one question, but I will add the questions as headings for good measure.
Tell us about your current financial situation. Why do you need assistance? 
I currently work as a Contracts Administrator in the legal department of a financial technology
company based in the United States. I live in Manila, Philippines, so I am - needless to say - not
paid in dollars like my counterparts. Based on that fact alone, one can surmise that my salary
cannot afford much if put into a Western context. This is exacerbated by our current global
situation; much has been shaken up because of COVID-19. The flow of salary is not as stable
as the flow of our monthly bills, and I believe everyone is facing job insecurity. Nevertheless, the
world keeps rotating and we must find ways to adapt. I’ve identified a Verified Certificate in this
course as one of the ways that can help me in the near future as a legal paraprofessional.
Financial aid would mean wonders in terms of survival alone, as the current socio-political
environment in the Philippines is not one to be commended. The Philippines, being a third-world
country, is currently headed by an incompetent, psychopathic despot who would take all taxes
and line his own pockets in a bid for notoriety. And it is not only the government that has issues
– so do private companies that only have eyes for the bottom-line. The company in charge of
our privatized electricity has, in recent times, been lambasted for their inaccurate and unclear
policies for charging consumers in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, fortunate is
the Filipino who can currently afford more than just the bare minimum.
Tell us about your learning or professional goals. How will a Verified Certificate in this course
help you achieve these goals? 
As I mentioned above, I work as a Contracts Administrator in the legal department of a financial
technology company. I also mentioned how job insecurity is an issue. This Verified Certificate
will serve mainly in three ways: (i) to allow me to keep my job during this pandemic; (ii) raise my
marketability if I were to be let go of my current company, and; (iii) allow me to learn the skills I
need to reach further as a Contracts Administrator. A Verified Certificate would show that I am
self-directed and enthusiastic about learning. I have always been an independent learner, and I
would like this to translate in the professional workspace.
Aside situation outlined above, I am also a volunteer in multiple capacities. I wish to be of
service with respect to contracts when it comes to negotiating and formulating Memoranda of
Understanding, for example. This is the Contract that my volunteer organization negotiates
when entering into a contract with Local Government Units in the Philippines. This organization
is called Trails to Empower Kids, and we bring school supplies to children in far-flung areas
such as mountains or coastal regions.
Another organization I’d like to leverage Contractual Skills in is LoveYourself, which is also
based in Manila. This organization is all about Human Immunodeficiency Virus (“HIV”)
awareness, testing, and treatment. We as volunteers go out and partner with different
organizations in order to lecture about HIV. We also screen or test people for HIV – and if found
positive, we link them to proper medical care and treatment. This organization does not yet have
a Contracts Officer, and I would like to further my own advocacies by learning from the best.
Moreover, I am also a committee member of my company’s Corporate Social Responsibility
Arm. I am often in talks about how to achieve social work best, and that involves contracting.
While I am already in the legal industry as a paraprofessional, it would be even better if, as a
Contracts Administrator, I am on par with licenses professionals or lawyers. A Verified
Certificate from EdX and HarvardX, I believe, would do just that.
Tell us about your plans for this course. What steps will you take to help you complete the
course work and receive a certificate? 
I plan to take as much learning as my energy and attention will allow, each day. I have been
known to finish courses much faster than expected, and that is because I am a voracious
learner. I allot at least one (1) to two (2) hours of learning per day, whenever I take a course. I
also take notes. It must be mentioned that if a video is played, I usually put it at a faster pace
because I am eager to listen. If the material necessitates reading, that usually goes much faster
for me. All-in-all, I have been self-directed throughout this entire pandemic by taking courses left
and right. Financial Aid that will allow me to earn a Verified Certificate will help me reach my
goals. I have taken online courses with a wide variety of organizations and on a much wider
