    DESIROUS to implement the provisions of articles 35, 36, and 37, of the
    ECOWAS Treaty relating to the establishment of the ECOWAS Common
    External Tariff and concerning all products imported from third countries
    into member states, and in th is regard define the list comprising the
    categories of products contained in the ECOWAS Tariff and Statistical
    Nomenclature;

    UPON THE PROPOSAL of the 12th meeting of the joint ECOWAS-


    UEMOA committee for the management of the ECOWAS Common
    External Tariff held in Abidjan from 11 to 14 December 2012;

    UPON THE RECOMMENDATION of the fifty-first session of the


    Techn ical Committee on Trade , Customs, and Free Movement held in
    Praia on 18 to 19 March 2013.

    ENACTS

    Article 1: Classification of Categories of Goods

    The products contained in the Tariff and Statistical Nomenclature of the


    Common External Tariff (CET) of the Economic Community of West
    African States (ECOWAS) are classified in different categories as listed
    in the Annex to this Regulation. The annex is an integral part of the
    Regulation .

    Article 2: Adoption of Harmonized System

    The 2012 amendments of the Harmonized Commodity Description and


    Coding System (HS) are hereby adopted

    Article 3: Extension of the Statistical Nomenclature


    of the Common External Tariff

    For the implementation of the provisions of the article 1, the Tariff and
    Statistical Nomenclature of the Common External Tariff (CET) of the
    Economic Community of West African States, based on the Harmonized
    Commodity Description and Coding System (HS) of the wo ~ Customs
    Organization (WCO), is extended from 06 digits to 10 digits . \

    Article 4: Declaration of Products

    Imported products in the Member States are to be declared in


    accordance with the ECOWAS Tariff and Statistical Nomenclature (TSN)

    Article 5: Entry Into Force and Publication

    This present Regulation shall enter into force upon signature by the
    President of the Council of Ministers. This Regulation shall be published
    by the Commission in the official journal of the community within thirty
    (30) days of its signatu re by the President of the Council of Ministers. It
    shall equally be published by each member state i ~ her official journal
    thirty (30) days after notification by the Commission . V\
