A. INTRODUCTION
“Visual Arts” is a modern but imprecise umbrella term for a broad category of art which includes a
number of artistic disciplines from various sub-categories.
Initial Task (10%): Look at the artwork below drawn by Ole Mejlvang Hedeager, and in your own
words, ponder the meaning/s you see in it. Inscribe your thoughts in your SAQs’ Answer Sheet.
OBJECTIVES
1. Understand the role of humanities and arts in man’s attempt at fully realizing his end;
2. Clarify misconceptions about the art;
3. Engage better with personal experiences of and in art.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
1. Visual Art – these refer to art forms that create works that are primarily visual in nature, such as
ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, photography, video, film-
making, and architecture.
2. Fine Art – a visual art considered to have been created primarily for aesthetic and intellectual
purposes and judged for its beauty and meaningfulness, specifically, painting, sculpture, drawing,
watercolor, graphics, and architecture.
CONTEXT
Definitions of visual art usually encompass several forms of art including the fine art.
1. Fine Art – Fine art belongs to the general category of visual arts. These include activities such as:
SAQ #1 (10%): If you are going to choose one field of fine art that you would like to explore, what would it be
and why? Briefly explain your answer not exceeding to 100 words.

SAQ #2 (30%): As an art app student, how are you going to showcase appreciation on the different fields of fine
art? For this task, you are going to select one field of fine art. After deciding what field; look for the internet,
newspapers, magazines, old books, or journals and gather photos to make a DIY collage of it. For example, you
have selected sculpture, and after choosing it, gather photos of the different sculptures and make a collage out of
those photos. You can put some decorations on your collage. Paste and organize it in a short-sized bond paper. Your
work will be evaluated by the given criteria below.
Criteria:
Creativity – 10%
Relevance of the photos – 10%
Adherence to instructions – 10%
TOTAL – 30%
SAQ #3 (10%): Elaborate your insights about this quotation by the renowned French playwright Jean Anouilh.
Explain your answer in no more than 150 words. Be guided by the given criteria in SAQ #1.

your own cover design. Your art workbook will be graded by the following criteria below.

calligraphy art of your favorite life quote. At the bottom portion, explain the relevance of that quote in
your life. Share your insights in no more than 200 words. Your output will be evaluated by the given
criteria below. Note that you will submit your art workbook with the Activity 1 in it during our first
face-to-face session.
