    Rig Up For Drill Pipe Back-Off Procedure

    Operation

    Driller & crew to work as a team.


    Toolbox talk to be held with all concerned prior to operation.

    Procedure

    1. Ensure correct space out for placement of TIW @ Rotary table & long Bails fitted.

    2. Engage Top Drive & apply / work left hand torque to the drill string under instruction
    of Fishing Supervisor.

    3. Once required torque is in drill string, it will be held in string using the Top Drive
    brake. The drill string will then be set in slips @ the desired weight, tying slip
    handles. A 1 tonne sling & shackle will be used on slip handles.

    4. The rotary table will be manually locked & Driller will carefully release top drive
    brake thus transferring the torque from top drive to locked rotary table. Attach break
    out tong ( complete with cathead & load cell on Snub line ) on tool jnt & take a bite.
    Have sheave rigged up with tugger to break out tong handle & hold tong bite with
    tugger ~ this is to catch any release of torque from slips.
    Note: All slip dies / tong dies to be sharp ~ snub lines & shackles to be checked.
    Change out as necessary.

    5. Back out top drive from single, monitor for movement in string.

    6. @ this point the top drive will be isolated under wireline permit to work.

    7. Position elevators towards stabbing board ~ unlatch elevators & install wireline tools
    ~ re-attach elevators ( lock pipe handler in position ).

    8. Once CCL has been correlated & string shot positioned across relevant tool jnt,
    engage break out tong & pull torque out of slips ~ hold torque with break out tong
    cathead line. Unlock rotary table & transfer torque from slips to break out tong snub
    line.

    9. Once torque held on break out tong ~ pick up on string & remove slips using tugger.

    10. Hold string @ back - off weight with break out tong & fire shot.

    11. If no release in torque ~ reset in slips & lock rotary table. POOH with wireline ~
    work torque across neutral wt with Top drive.
