7. Consider the solid ferromagnetic core shown in Fig. 7. The depth of the solid core is 5 cm. Assume µr =
1000 for the core. The current value in the coil is 4 A. Ignore the fringing and leakage effects at the air
gap, which is centered in the middle limb of core. Determine the following: (12 marks)

(a) The electrical equivalent circuit of the magnetic circuit as shown in Figure 1.
(b) The individual values of all reluctances.
(c) The value of the equivalent reluctance of the core as seen by coil.
(d) The value of the resultant flux in the coil limb.
(e) The individual value of each flux that exists in each limb of the core.
(f) The value of flux density in each limb.

8. The magnetic circuit shown in Fig. 8, uses sheet steel with 𝛍𝐫 = 𝟔𝟎𝟎𝟎 for its core. The mean length of
magnetic path is 60 cm and cross-section area is 10 cm2. Coils A and B with 100 and 200 turns, carries a
current of 1 A and 1.5 A respectively as indicated. (5 marks)

(a) For creating a flux of 1.62 mWb in the core, find current I required in the coil C having 250 turns.
(b) Now if the direction of the current I in coil C is reversed, find the flux in the core.
