Summary

Desigo CCTM is the integrated building management platform from Siemens. This Release document
informs on all innovations available with Version 2.1. It describes the additionally supported
subsystems, new applications and several engineering and run-time improvements.
Increased datapoint size, new supported subsystems like SiPass, AlgoRex, SIMATIC S7, SICLIMAT X,
CCTV Integration including recording and additional protocol standards like Modbus TCP, SSL/TLS
for email as well as hardened cybersecurity are main Desigo CC V2.1 features. Furthermore a new
Log Viewer application for chronological display of events as well as system and user activities is
available. Language support for 18 languages will increase the global market expansion of Desigo
CC.

Desigo CC serves as the integrated building management platform for small to large and for simple
to complex customer projects. All building functions – including lighting, shading, video as well as
danger management – can be integrated. Desigo CC V2.1 is made for public & commercial buildings,
schools & universities, offices and hospitals. Desigo CC directly supports disciplines such as building
management, fire safety, intrusion, access control, video and mass notification.

System description

The Desigo CC System description is an important

document for sales & engineers.
It describes the Desigo CC integrated management
platform and is a source of technical product information.
It gives the reader an overview of the system
characteristics, the hardware and software requirements,
the system limits and the approvals. It provides an
overview to the supported system connectivity and the
recommended system configurations.

System Dimensioning Guide

Deployments in customer networks or large sites depend

on multiple parameters to guarantee size, performance,
and optimized usage of a management system. The
system performance highly depends on the server
hardware and from the amount of objects to handle
within the system. Desigo CC Version 2.1 supports the
maximum of 150,000 objects.
A new easy-to-use Excel tool allows Sales engineers, Field
engineers and Product Managers to verify whether a given
customer project can be supported by Desigo CC V2.1 and
which hardware is requested.
The tool needs as input parameters the number of objects
requested by the specific subsystem part (e.g. number of
BA Datapoints, number of fire detectors, number of
Access Control doors, number of Video cameras, number
of Trend series and interval time, number and kind of
room applications…) and says whether or not the project
falls within the declared system limits and which
hardware is requested for the Desigo CC server machine.
Additional to the hardware recommendation the Excel
Tool provide a SQL type recommendation based on the
expected daily log data in the system and seeked storage
time.

For better document maintainability reasons and different regional needs we do not repeat the information
provided in the System Description but refer in this Facts and Sales Release to this document.
Log Viewer Application

The Log Viewer application allows users to retrieve the

historic records regarding system events and activities for
further analysis and investigation.

The Detailed Log in the operation pane provides a historic

log of the most recent user and system events and
activities related to an individually selected object. Data
displayed within the Detailed Log can be further analyzed
using sorting and filtering functionality similar to the Log
Viewer. In case the user has executed a command or
changed a set point the old and new values are recorded
and the user name is shown.

Automatic Display of Event Treatment

The event treatment is extended with an “automatic start”

option. In case of an event the system can automatically
display the details of the event and the related graphics
and video cameras (or more) without the need of any
manual action of the operator. This configurable option is
ideal for users with little Desigo CC experience and still
can immediately access all relevant information of life
safety events and initiate the necessary actions.

Improved navigation

The System Manager of Desigo CC V2.1 is enhanced with

a breadcrumb Navigation Bar and buttons (e.g. back
button) to quickly navigate across the site with few mouse
clicks.
Filter options are enhanced including filtering options on
discipline and sub-discipline.

Improved remote event notification (RENO)

Send remote notifications via:

 Devices using ESPA 4.4.4 protocol
 Supporting SSL/TLS protocols for sending and
receiving e-mails in a secured way
Language support

The Desigo CC software is delivered in English and can be

extended with additional languages. For

In the Desigo CC software, English is installed by default

and 3 additional languages can be installed
simultaneously. The User Interface language can be
defined for each individual user.

Mobile Application

A new App, optimized for smartphones and tablets, is

available for Desigo CC systems. The App contains tools to
see and command events as well as a System Browser to
read and command all objects based on the security
privileges of the operator as defined in Desigo CC.

The Desigo CC App will be available for both Apple and

Android operating systems and will connect to the new
Desigo CC Web Service interfaces.
BACnet Standard

Desigo CC V2.1 supports BACnet protocol Revision 1.13,

certified by BACnet Testing Laboratory as BACnet
Advanced Workstation Software (BTL B-AWS).

In Addition the EDE Import capabilities are extended to

support hierarchical Views and Alias names.

Support of Modbus-TCP

Desigo CC supports native Modbus communication via

Ethernet.

Modbus RTU devices can be integrated, by using a

standard Modbus TCP gateway that converts the RTU/ASCII
protocol.

For standard integrations a specialized library is provided.

Web Services

The new Web service interfaces allow for exchanging data

(object’s values, events and trend series) between Desigo
CC and external applications such as facility management
systems, enterprise applications, mobile applications or
other value-added services.

The REST API provides programmatic access to read, write

and command the system data and functionality.

Library Management

The new Desigo CC V2.1 library management allows

engineers to customize HQ libraries to create regional and
project-specific libraries. The new library function helps
the local organization to add and modify library elements.

Advantage Navigator Connectivity

Desigo CC offers a software gateway to Advantage

Navigator (previously called EMC). The gateway connects
to the Desigo CC web services for historical data (Trend
Series).

This easy configurable gateway substitute entirely the

existing solution of scheduled trend application export.
Fire Safety
Supported Subsystems

The main fire safety sub-systems in their actual released

version have native support in Desigo CC Version 2.1. The

Improved support of Sinteso FS20

Support of Sinteso FS20 panels has been improved to

simplify the access to relevant information and optimize
the memory footprint.

Consistency check tasks are also automatically performed

to notify the project engineer in case the fire panel
configuration of Desigo CC is not aligned with the one of
Sinteso FS20.

Support of NCC migrations

 Existing NCC graphics can be migrated to Desigo CC

without the need to rebuild them from scratch
Algorex CS1140 and Synova FC700A

Algorex CS1142/CS1145 and Synova FC700A EP7 panels

are supported by means of NK823x gateway connected to
Desigo CC using the BACnet interface.

The AlgoRex CS1142/CS1145 fire detection system

consists of the following station types:

 CC11 Main CPU

 CI11 combination of main CPU and operating unit
 CT11 operating unit
 CK11 gateway

The Synova FC700A fire detection system consists of the

following station types:

All of these station types are connected on a C-bus

network (max. 16 stations per C-bus). Cerloop topologies

Video operations are fully integrated into the Desigo CC

user interface experience with the following capabilities:

Video - Events and Site IQ Analytics
The extension module Video newly allows to display and
treatment of events from cameras e.g. tamper, faults,
motion detection and analytic sensor events. The events
are mapped to Desigo CC alarming schemas, event
categories and priorities. Thus they are part of the
common event workflows and powerful event handling of
Desigo CC.
The generic event interface allows managing all events
from the connected VMS regardless of the source. Events
from new devices or new analytic system are supported
by default.
Newly the Perimeter Security Essentials and Perimeter
Security video analytics can be added to the Siveillance
VMS 200 embedded, providing state of the art video
analytics events to the Desigo CC Extension Module Video.
Unlike the basic motion detection capabilities commonly
embedded with video cameras or video management
systems, Perimeter Security Essentials and Perimeter
Security offers robust object detection and tracking that
has been previously offered only in premium analytics
software.

Video - Recording and Tagging of video streams

Recording of video streams can be triggered by Desigo CC
and by reactions of the connected VMS. Desigo CC
recording triggers are events, manual command, reactions
or macros, schedules and northbound interfaces.
The support of Bookmarks/Tags for recordings allows
adding additional information to a recording for search
and replay. Event bookmarks are written automatically.
Manual bookmarks and free recording tags are written by
a manually or automatically executed command.
Bookmarks are written to the connected VMS if this
feature is supported in the VMS.

Video - Search and Replay of video recordings

Desigo CC Video allows the search of video clips in the
video archive via query and timeline. A search query with
parameters and the preview allows the dedicated search
for recordings triggered by Desigo CC and recordings of
the VMS matching the search query. Tags and bookmarks
stored in the VMS can be searched and displayed
regardless of the origin of the bookmark.
A timeline in Contextual Pane allows the user to skim
through the recordings and Tags/Bookmarks of a camera
and provides an overview of the events triggered by
Desigo CC. To replay a recorded clip, the recording can be
e.g. dragged into the video display of Desigo CC.
Video analytic based search and export can be conducted
at dedicated clients of the connected VMS (not available
for embedded VMS). For detailed information please refer
to the manual of the connected VMS.
Video - Enhanced Live View options
New live view features enhance the available surveillance
capabilities. Non-licensed monitors not managed by the
VMS or the integration are capable to show live camera
streams until display is closed or the focus is changed to
another application.
Camera Group operations provide a quick and effective
way to show multiple cameras on the video display.
Surveillance of areas and perimeter fences are supported
by Camera Sequences and Camera group sequences
providing video guard tour mechanisms.

Video - Enhanced Video Operation Procedure Step

(Video OPS)
Clients are enhanced with an additional Alarm Monitor
Group. Each monitor assigned to the Alarm Monitor Group
will be controlled in Operating Procedures and Assisted
Treatment, providing Event Monitor Wall functionality per
client. In mixed usage with Video OPS and Secondary
Pane, up to 32 video streams can be displayed. New live
view and replay options can be used in Video OPS to
enhance Video event treatment and video support for
events of other disciplines.

Video - New commands

All new commands are available to other Desigo CC
applications and northbound interfaces, e.g. Reactions &
Macros, Scheduler and Web Services. This allows
additional enhanced workflows for video operations and
video event treatment:

Video - Engineering Efficiency

Desigo CC Video supports the engineering of Related
Items via graphic based Coverage Area. Objects inside the
area are automatically assigned to the camera showing
the coverage area. An additional configuration allows
management of the relations of cameras and camera
groups.
A bulk engineering of managed monitors allows the fast
and easy extension of the video deployment with new
clients or the enhancement with Alarm Monitor Groups.
Groups newly allow the structuring of Cameras (video
sources) and Monitors (video sinks) in hierarchical views.
Video - System limits
The Desigo CC system limits are documented in the
Desigo CC System Description.
The Video System limits are:

Video - Open integration platform*

Desigo CC Video supports ONVIF Standard for IP video
camera systems as defined in the integrated VMS system.

Access Control *

The integration of SiPass integrated adds the event-,

monitoring and control capabilities of the discipline
Access Control to Desigo CC.
Status and device monitoring and display in standard
applications as well as device commands are part of the
Desigo CC command and control UI experience. They
allow door control in combination with other connected
Fire Safety and Security systems.
Events of Access Control devices, doors and areas are
incorporated in Desigo CC event treatment,
complementing the homogenous view on all danger
management disciplines.

Desigo Mass Notification is an efficient and flexible

application that uses today’s most common
communication technologies to provide notification
functionalities to the Desigo CCTM building management
station. It is a premise-based alerting system that gives
you full coverage of routine and emergency
communication as well as integration with social media
and bulk messaging provider services to deliver
meaningful, relevant critical information.

Licensing

Desigo CC is protected by a Trusted Store license concept where licenses are assigned to the
computer hardware. If a hardware key (dongle) is required a Trusted Store license can be transferred
and assigned to a hardware key.

The license concept is based on a Base Feature Set which provides basic functionality and can be
extended with data points, additional clients and application options:

 The Base feature set contains all basic functionality including one client (US&CA – Extended
Feature Set; no client included), trending, alarming, event treatment, graphic viewer,
scheduler, report engine, SNMP-Client, OPC-Client, Modbus TCP, S7 driver, 8 S7 connections,
user profiles and management (scopes), system engineering, On-line help etc.

 Sizing options are optional clients and data points.

 Application options add additional functionality to the system.

P55802-Y131-A100 CCA-STARTUP-BASE Startup base feature set contains all options, but no data points. The license
is 30 days valid. Combined with the project purchased points, this license
allows to do engineering without any interruption and with no engineering
dongle for 30 days.

This license can also be used to promote Desigo CC options, by allowing it to

run at a customer site for a trial period of 30 days.

Startup Base license activation DOES NOT start the SUR (Software Upgrade
Renewal) period.

The end customer license base feature set (P55802-Y116-A100) is to be

activated within the 30 days period in order not to loose any SUR (Software
Upgrade Renewal) time period. Without an end customer base feature license
is place the system will go into courtesy mode (yellow summary bar).

For engineering purposes an engineering license is available. An engineering license can only be
activated with a hardware key. Engineering licenses are charged with a yearly license fee. Note: A

Upgrade program

In order to encourage the sites to keep their management station software up to date with the latest
revisions of software, HQ provides a subscription concept called Software Upgrade Subscription
(SUS).
Every new Desigo CC installation includes a 12-month subscription to the Software Upgrade Service
(SUS) which entitles the site to optionally install any new versions of software (e.g. v3.0) within 12
months of activation of the software1. An expired subscription can be renewed for 12 more months
by purchasing a Software Upgrade Renewal (SUR) within 12 months after expiration (the grace
period).
Example: Any site that activated a Desigo CC Version 2.0 license less than 12 months before the
release of Version 2.1 will be entitled to upgrade their software to Version 2.1 with no additional
licensing cost, as long as the Version 2.1 license is activated within 12 months of the date when they
activated their last revision of software.
In case the customer did not purchased the SUR yearly to stay in the Upgrade Program he/she can be
back in it by buying again a Software Upgrade Service (SUS) and receiving, so, additional 12-months
subscription.

Software Upgrade Renewal (SUR) and Software Upgrade Subscription (SUS) are handled with
different Part Numbers.

Migration Program

The migration program refers to the possibility to move a site from an older Siemens Management
Station product to Desigo CC V2.1 with an attractive discount rate. There are 2 discount policies that
can be applied based on the type and version of the legacy product to be migrated:

The presentation helps the solution partners to use

consistent and uniform arguments while selling Desigo
CC. Furthermore, the slides are set with speaker notes.
The sales story is targeting investors, owners, operators,
users and general contractors.

The updated Desigo CC brochure covers alle features of

Desigo CC V2.1. To highlight the advantages between

communicated that controls, operates and optimizes
multiple disciplines. But Desigo CC is more than a
management station; it is an integrated building
management platform that enables the integration of
single or multiple disciplines on room level - HVAC,
lighting and shading - as well as on system level, thus
including building management - HVAC, lighting,
shading - up to fire safety and security.
Bid specifier texts (STST)

The Specification Text Selection Tool (STST V6.0) allows

planners to efficiently draft manufacturer-neutral and
functional bid texts for building management and
control systems and applications. The database of this
planner tool is extended with Desigo CC V2.1 texts to
provide the planner a tool to create detailed
specifications.

Desigo Configuration Module (DCM)

The building management Desigo Configuration Module

(DCM) is specially designed to support the sales process,
but is also usable by Engineering. DCM provides the
correct and optimized calculation of all system devices
and licenses.

The DCM V6 is extended with Desigo CC V2.1 with focus

building management.
Training Offering

BT SEE training organizations offer modular courses for

Desigo CC which are globally aligned. The training
courses are based on the Train concept.

Vienna BT Academy International

For detailed training contents and schedules please refer

to the related Extranet links above. The Training Finder
(HQ Zug) for Desigo CC offers a graphical overview
including access to the Sales & Technical CourseWare as
well as the Qualification Lines (Page5). The training
materials are delivered in English and German.

The sales trainings are offered in the BT Regions SEE on
demand.
For technical trainings it is mandatory that participants
have sound technical knowledge of the integrated
subsystems. i.e. Desigo PX, Sinteso FS20, FireFinder XLS,
SPC. For video surveillance sound knowledge of cameras,
network configuration settings and streaming load is a
prerequesit.
