This paper has two (2) pages and eight (8) questions in four sections.

You are required to answer one question from any three of the four sections.
SECTION A

1. Briefly explain the hierarchy of the judicial system in any Commonwealth Caribbean jurisdiction.

2. ‘Legislation and the Common law are two primary and important sources of law.’ Discuss.

SECTION B

3. Compare and contrast the organic and mechanical theories of the state.

4. Examine and discuss the first past-the-post, second ballot and proportional representation systems of
election.
SECTION C

5. What is economics and why do you think it is essential to have some knowledge of economics?

6. Outline the characteristics of the plantation economy and discuss the model proposed by Best and
Levitt.

SECTION D

7. Using examples briefly explain the following concepts:
