I. Recall and Recognize. Answer the following questions briefly.

1. What is prayer?
Prayer is a way talking to God.

2. What are the basic types of prayer?


The Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving, and Supplication (ACTS) or offering.

3. What are the stages of the Lectio Divina?


Lectio: Reading of the test
Meditatio: Approaching the text
Oratio: Responding to God in Prayer
Actio: Responding to God in Action

II. Express Yourself. Give your answers to the following questions.

1. Think of a person you have encountered who modelled a life of prayer. Why is he or she your choice?
Saint Monica, I can surely say that she is living in a life of prayer. Because of her prayer, she converted her
husband and son in Christianiy.

2. How will you show that you are a person of prayer?


By praying the rosary every day, attending the mass every Sunday and praying before and after sleeping.

3. How can you establish a closer relationship with God? Recall your experiences of prayer.
Through genuine prayer and open up to Him like a friend.

4. How will you integrate Lectio Divina in your daily activities?


I’ll do it in my free time.

III. Reflect and Take Action. A couple who had been married for almost ten years is still childless. They have
sought medical help and spent so much for treatment but to no avail. They always prayed the novena to Saint
Monica for they believed that she would intercede for them. They did this prayer for more than ten years until they
got tired and lost hope. If you were their friend, what would you do? How would you convince them to pray
unceasingly and never lose hope?

I would tell them that God’s plan takes a lot of time but it will definitely come. God has plans for it and for
their own good. But if they are still childless, they have different option like adopting a child.
