Educational Philosophy
“We never know which lives we influence, or when, or why”, Stephen King. Teachers change
lives everyday without recognizing which students and when change is happening. I believe that
teaching is not a career choice for everyone. As teachers our students need us to be kind, caring,
and patient. These students need teachers who sincerely value their education. I believe anyone
can stand in front of a classroom and identify themselves as a teacher. In reality not everyone
posses the required qualities to become an effective teacher. I believe the best qualities of a
teacher consist of communication skills. In order for one to communicate effectively a teacher
must have superior listening skills. I believe the best teachers are the ones who are passionate
about teaching. Teachers should be dedicated to teaching and should be able to engage and
I’ve never been more sure of my decision to become an elementary teacher until I completing
observational hours inside a kindergarten classroom. The students were so welcoming and sweet.
They demonstrated good listening skills and respect for their teacher. It was incredible to watch
and see them expand their minds. They were excited to learn and very engaged in the lessons

every student is different and learns in different styles. As schools are changing and becoming

will allow me to deal with ethical and behavioral dilemmas. I don’t see myself being the teacher
that’s always conducting a standard test to assess my students academic progress. I will integrate

performance a variety of assessment styles so that I can attempt to keep my students engaged in
their learning.
In conclusion, my goal as a teacher is to ensure that I provide the necessary tools and knowledge
to enhance and the education for all of my students. I believe that our children need passionate
teachers to educate and guide them through their educational journey. I believe all teachers
should be able to adapt and use methods to enhance the different learning styles required by their
students. I look forward to begin my teaching career. After completing my associates degree at
College of Southern Nevada I will transfer to Nevada State College to obtain my bachelors
degree. Also, after completing my associates degree I plan to begin a substituting career.
