I believe that children are indeed precious gems not only by their parents but also our nation as
a whole. I will make sure that their value and radiance shall be brightly and rightly developed by
nurturing them to the best of my abilities in my watch. I shall be proactively sensitive to their diversity
and individuality that they may appreciate and respect their own uniqueness and differences from each
other like how diamond, ruby and emerald radiate various vibrant colors but are all equally gorgeous.
Show them all the beauty they possess inside. Give them a sense of pride……..
I shall always remind them that they are precious gems that everybody is searching for to have
in their lives because they give enormous joy, wealth and value. Moreover, I would constantly
emphasize to them the natural process on how to achieve that kind of status precious gems possess so
that they may not just remain a brittle rock that can be crushed by anybody. Just as diamonds are
created under tremendous pressure in a sizable amount of time, my students are to be taught the value
of self-discipline, habits and character to be polished perfectly to their desired state in the right time.
I will make sure that they will experience the genuine joy of learning to love and loving to learn
anything just as I have in the past. I shall share my journey with them and tell them relevant personal
stories I have experienced when I was in their seat and tell them how lucky they are to have been given
the gift of life. I will let them see in my eyes, hear from my voice and feel from my care the memories I
have in me as an innocent apathetic child transformed into a productive mature caring man because of
all my teachers in the past.
I, Ramon Dominic A. Nobleza, shall constantly seek and perform my purpose as teacher
in every classroomI belong, untiringly pursue excellence in each opportunity that arises, and
unconditionally love all my students like my most influential teacher, Jesus Christ, did.
The Teaching Profession: An Integration Paper
Prior to this subject, my concept of teaching as a profession is just one of the more
secure jobs even in times of crisis for I have witnessed firsthand what my mother received
during this pandemic. I have never truly understood before the immense gravity of the training,
indoctrination and responsibility that rests upon this every should of a teacher. This subject gave
me context of how important the teaching process, philosophies, legislation and ethics are in
nation building.
Although we only had 6 sessions, I think all the subject matter in this subject have been
thoroughly discussed with proper perspective and inspiring stories from one of the most
respected experts in the field in the Bicol Region. I was really fascinated by the history of
education for it had evolved as well by answering the needs of the time. Aside from the Ancient
and Philipine History of Education, I have also learned a glimpse of the history of education in
the Bicol region, especially about Ateneo de Naga University because Sir Popoy, who has been
serving Ateneo for more than 25 years already, is one of the pioneers of some of the important
programs offered by the university. His stories gave the subject a more relatable feeling as he is
really involved in the planning, development and execution of the policies formed by the people
in charge. The development of ACLC, ADNU Grade School and College of Education were real
examples of how the theories we were discussing were put in fruition.
There are also a great deal of take-aways that I have imprinted in my mind when we
were discussing the Philosophies of Education. The discussion was really insightful and taught
me how to dissect and reflect in retrospect my education since I was a little child at home being
taught by my own mother. Now, I have understood better why I have loved my high school
experience than any other stage of my education for the philosophies employed by Ateneo de
Naga University High School were really responsive and sensitive to our needs as students and
as a person as a whole. Right now, as I just started to embark on this journey as a teacher, I
have at least a picture in my mind of what philosophies I will use as I become a teacher in the
future.
The discussions regarding the legal bases of education and the relevant legislation gave
me furthermore guidance on what to look for in the platforms of the next aspiring politicians.
There are much more people involved when we talk about the sector of education. I will never
vote for someone who thinks that educational institutions are just merely researchers or look
down upon the professionals we produce like nurses. I will try to seek legislators who truly care
for the quality of public education, the welfare of the students, the protection of the rights of
teachers and staff and the interests of the private education sector. This pandemic really
exposed how we really are to the fourth industrial revolution and we should really be proactively
involved in the changes in the education system by entrusting the key positions in the
government to the right people.
