Look for various network models in which hyper local delivery and fulfilment are being
executed across the world and its cost viability and scale feasibility without compromising
delivery experience to customers. We are looking at minimal Capex investment in case of gig
economy led Last Mile delivery options.

Terms

In a gig economy, temporary, flexible jobs are commonplace and companies tend toward hiring
independent contractors and freelancers instead of full-time employees so as to minimise cost.

Omnichannel: An Omni channel approach means there's integration between distribution,


promotion and communication channels on the back end.It pushes past the operational tactics of
multichannel into a business model that weaves those channels together and shares data between
them, enabling customers to conduct business with companies however they want, whenever they
want.

For example, if a customer who has started an interaction with a company on webchat submits
information, such as an account number, then decides to end the chat and call customer service
instead, that information can be transferred to an agent. A company with strictly multichannel
capabilities can accommodate the customer on both channels, but because it lacks back-end systems
integration, the customer would have to re-enter the information using an automated system, such
as interactive voice response, or relay it to a live agent.

Last mile delivery is defined as the movement of goods from a transportation hub to the final
delivery destination. The final delivery destination is typically a personal residence. 

 Retailers must begin to prepare their transportation networks for traffic fluctuations caused
by the expected growth in online sales. Traditional transportation methods such as UPS,
FedEx and USPS are not successful in all regions and retailers are beginning to search for
alternatives to satisfy their needs. In order to accommodate faster shipping times, changing
regulation and infrastructure limitations retailers and their transportation partners have
started to research delivery alternatives including click-to-collect locations, local regional
carriers, drones and much more.
