Research Topic: Success of #BlackLivesMatter campaign in creating awareness among the
generation Z cohort worldwide.

Question 1: Using at least 05 journal articles, write an introduction on your assigned research
topic. In your introduction,
a. write a general discussion about the topic;
b. cite existing/current literature on the topic
c. establish the significance/importance of your research topic
d. establish a research gap
e. have one broad objective and at least two specific objectives

Introduction: Black Lives Matter is an activist movement which began as a hashtag

(#BlackLivesMatter) after George Zimmerman was acquitted in the shooting death of Trayvon
Martin, an unarmed African-American teenager killed in Florida in July 2013 (ADL, 2020). The
movement turned out to be all the more generally known and promoted after two prominent
passing in 2014 of unarmed African-American men. Neither of the cops associated with their
demises were prosecuted. By fall of that year, fights encompassing Brown's demise were
subsumed under the association, Black Lives Matter (BLM). Proceeding with today, BLM has
become a development that battles to change social talk and open approaches that underestimate
Black residents. Specialists have discovered that the upkeep of this development is dependent
upon interpersonal organizations worked inside the computerized circle. Using online life stages,
BLM now has a network of supporters that extends into the millions. Utilizing the narratology
worldview and asset assembly hypothesis, my outcomes locate that web-based life—explicitly
Twitter—has the extraordinary capacity to amalgamation advanced counter-stories in a powerful
way that rapidly brings out responses. This investigation likewise finds that the utilization of
internet-based life to activate is best at basic focuses in the development—explicitly 1 to about
fourteen days after significant occurrences (Owen-Diana, 2020).
Social media played an important role in this movement by spreading awareness among
generation Z groups in the whole world (Marcia Mundt, Karen Ross, Charla M Burnett, 2018).
They are using #blacklivesmatter hashtag in different types of social media like Facebook,
twitter to spread the awareness. Even many big companies, organizations are also supporting this
movement and also many famous media personalities are now supporting this (Austa
Somvichian-Clausen, 2020). People of different countries and religion are now protesting as this
is a movement of the general people who are suffering for racism (Jen Kirby, 2020). The BLM
movement also spreader in Asian countries like India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and many
other countries through social media. The generation Z people throughout the country are now
very much aware about the movement and they are now more aware about their basic rights.
As fights spread over the world against police severity, foundational bigotry, and bad form, this
is an extraordinary time for our locale to think about what we can never really Black lives and all
minorities inside our networks and inside our reality. So as to achieve this, we should be more
than "not bigot;" everybody must battle to be effectively hostile to supremacist. So, it very
important to do research on this topic. Although most of the researcher of this topic describe this
movement as the protest of those people who are suffering from racism for their skin color, they
have missed out the main point of this protest in their research. They failed to understand that
racism is everywhere in our society, it is not only about the skin color but also about the
difference between class, religion, nationality. My research will focus the all kinds of racism in
the society, not only a specific type of racism. The broad objective of this research is to increase
the awareness among generation Z people that they shouldn’t only focus on racism about skin
color, but also make awareness about all types of racism in the society so that people who are
suffering from this can live peacefully.

Question 2:
Now, let’s assume that you are given the same research topic. On this topic, you are asked to
prepare a research design. In this regard, answer the following questions (Total word count for
this question is 400-700 words):
a. What type of research would you carry out based on research question? Justify your choice
here. Why do you think that your choice is better than the other options?

(a)
Research is a persistent procedure that needs improvement as time passes by, and as such is non-
comprehensive. Albeit, a great deal of specialists chipping away at novel tasks, most analysts
take a shot at existing hypotheses or definitions and expand on them. Researchers may choose to
chip away at a difficult that has not been concentrated unmistakably to build up needs, create
operational definitions and improving the last exploration plan. This kind of examination is what
is called exploratory research. We know that there are four types of research based on research
question method, they are: Exploratory research, Descriptive research, Explanatory research,
Evaluative research.
So here I will go with exploratory research. Exploratory research is the way toward researching a
difficult that has not been considered or completely examined in the past. Exploratory sort of
research is generally directed to have a superior comprehension of the current issue, yet as a rule
doesn't prompt a decisive outcome. Researchers utilize exploratory examination when attempting
to pick up nature with a current marvel and get new knowledge into it to shape a more exact
issue. It starts dependent on an overall thought and the results of the research are utilized to
discover related issues with the subject of the research. In exploratory research, the procedure of
the exploration differs as per the finding of new information or knowledge. So, in the previous
researches, the researchers focus on the awareness of racism about different skin color. But they
missed the main point of this protest which is happening throughout the world. May be the
American people are protesting about racism of skin color, but people throughout the world
should be aware about the racism of class, religion and nationality. Because people throughout
the world are suffering for racism. Countries like India, China Myanmar, Afghanistan and many
other are suffering from racism because of their nationality, religion, class and etc. In my
opinion, these things need to be highlighted along with the racism of skin color, when people
protest against racism they must protest against all types of racism. So that’s why I think
exploratory research is the better option than others.

b. What type of research would you carry out based on data collection method? Justify your
choice here. Why do you think that your choice is better than the other options?

(b) There are three types of research-based data collection method, they are qualitative research,
quantitative research, mixed-method research. For my research I will go with mixed-method
research based on the data collection method. Mix -method research is a combine research of
qualitative and quantitative research. Qualitative research is multimethod in center, including an
interpretive, naturalistic way to deal with its topic. This implies qualitative researchers study
things in their common settings, endeavoring to comprehend, or decipher, marvels as far as the
implication’s individuals bring to them. In the other hand quantitative research is characterized
as a precise examination of wonders by social affair quantifiable information and performing
factual, numerical, or computational strategies. For my research I will be collecting text, audio
and video data. Also, I will be collecting statistical and mathematical data to carry on my
research. Racism is a worldwide problem and people of many countries are suffering from it.
This problem is going on for centuries, but as we are now well connected throughout the world
so people can easily highlight these problems in front of the world. So, this is why mixed-method
research is better option than others.

c. What type of research would you carry out based on time horizon? Justify your choice here.
Why do you think that your choice is better than the other options?

(c) There are two types of research based on time horizon, they are cross-sectional research and
longitudinal research. For my research I will go with longitudinal research. In a longitudinal
research, researchers more than once inspect similar people to distinguish any progressions that
may happen over some stretch of time. Longitudinal research is a sort of correlational
exploration wherein researchers watch and gather information on various factors without
attempting to impact those factors. As we know that this racism problem is nothing new for this
world. This is happening centuries after centuries in different countries throughout the world. So,
I will be collecting data from different times. But cross-sectional research focuses on collecting
data from a specific period of time. As I will be focusing on different times and countries with
religion, I am selecting longitudinal research over cross-sectional research.
