1.Races of the Filipinos, identify and give their features.

Malay (40%)

Malay, Malay Orang Melayu (“Malay People”), any member of an ethnic group of the Malay
Peninsula and portions of adjacent islands of Southeast Asia, including the east coast of Sumatra, the
coast of Borneo, and smaller islands that lie between these areas. The Malays speak
various dialects belonging to the Austronesian (Malayo-Polynesian) family of languages.

The diverse composition of Malaysia's population is reflected in the food, art, festivals and the
customs. The 30 million population of Malaysia are represented by multiple ethnic groups, the
largest three being the Malays, Chinese and Indians. The topic of food never runs dry in Malaysia.

Indonesian (30%)

With a population totaling around 260 million individuals, Indonesia is the fourth-largest country in
terms of population size. Its ethnic composition is characterized by variety, in fact wide variety, as
the country contains hundreds of different ethnic groups and cultures. However, more than half of
the population can be classified as belonging to two main ethnic groups. This section zooms in on
the people of Indonesia.

Negrito (10%)
Negritos were once considered a single population of related people. Some studies suggest that
they include several separate groups, as well as demonstrating that they are not closely related
to the Pygmies of Africa, while more recent studies find evidence for a close genetic relation
between the various Negrito groups. The pre-Neolithic Negrito populations of Southeast Asia
were largely replaced by the expansion of Southern East Eurasian populations, beginning about
5,000 years ago.

Chinese (10%)

China, Chinese (Pinyin) Zhonghua or (Wade-Giles romanization) Chung-hua, also spelled

(Pinyin) Zhongguo or (Wade-Giles romanization) Chung-kuo, officially People’s Republic of China or
Chinese (Pinyin) Zhonghua Renmin Gongheguo or (Wade-Giles romanization) Chung-hua Jen-min
Kung-ho-kuo, country of East Asia. It is the largest of all Asian countries and has the largest
population of any country in the world. Occupying nearly the entire East Asian landmass, it covers
approximately one-fourteenth of the land area of Earth. Among the major countries of the world,
China is surpassed in area by only Russia and Canada, and it is almost as large as the whole
of Europe.

Indian (8%)

India, country that occupies the greater part of South Asia. Its capital is New Delhi, built in the 20th
century just south of the historic hub of Old Delhi to serve as India’s administrative centre. Its
government is a constitutional republic that represents a highly diverse population consisting of
thousands of ethnic groups and likely hundreds of languages. With roughly one-sixth of the world’s
total population, India is the second most populous country, after China.

American (3%)
The European roots of the United States originate with the English settlers of colonial
America during British rule. The varieties of English people, as opposed to the other peoples on the
British Isles, were the overwhelming majority ethnic group in the 17th century (population of the
colonies in 1700 was 250,000) and were 47.9% of percent of the total population of 3. 9 million.
They constituted 60% of the whites at the first census in 1790 (%: 3.5 Welsh, 8.5 Ulster Scots, 4.3
Scots, 4.7 Southern Irish, 7.2 German, 2.7 Dutch, 1.7 French and 2 Swedish), The American
Revolution, Colin Bonwick, 1991, p. 254. The English ethnic group contributed the major cultural and
social mindset and attitudes that evolved into the American character. Of the total population in
each colony they numbered from 30% in Pennsylvania to 85% in Massachusetts, Becoming America,
Jon Butler, 2000, pp. 9–11. Large non-English immigrant populations from the 1720s to 1775, such as
the Germans (100,000 or more), Scotch Irish (250,000), added enriched and modified the English
cultural substrate, The Encyclopedia of Colonial and Revolutionary America, Ed. John Mack Faragher,
1990, pp. 200–202. The religious outlook was some versions of Protestantism (1.6% of the
population were English, German and Irish Catholics).

Arab (2%)

from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the Arabian Sea in the east, and from the Mediterranean
Sea in the north to the Horn of Africa and the Indian Ocean in the
southeast. Language, literature, gastronomy, art, architecture, music, spirituality, philosophy, mystici
sm (etc.) are all part of the cultural heritage of the Arabs.

2. Different theories: Land Bridge Theory Part of a lost continent The more tenable volcanic in origin
theory

Land Bridge Theory

-The land bridge theory in the Philippines states that in the earlier times there were land
bridges or isthmus that allow the early inhabitants to move from one region to another. The
island of Palawan is said to be one of the remnants of these land bridges

Sunda Land

it is said that we are a part of mainland asia

Borneo-Palawan Land Bridge

some scholars believe that a land bridge between Borneo and

Palawan once existed. In fact, palawan was considered as the
gateway to Luzon.
Taiwan-Northern Luzon-Asia Mainland Bridge

Some scholars claim that there is a connection between Northern

Luzon Taiwan, and mainland Asia,

Pines and other fauna in Mt. Province

Northern Giant "Cloud rat.

Mindanao-Celebes Land Bridge a direct connection of Mindanao and Celebes.

According to Dr. Fritjof Voss, based on the studies on the earth's crust from 1964
to 1967, it was discovered that the crust beneath China, which was 35-kilometers
thick, was not connected to the Philippines. This implies the improbability of a
land bridge between the Philippines and mainland Asia

Bailey Willis, a geologist, concluded that the Philippines was a result of the eruptions

of submarine volcanoes along the western side of the Pacific basin. These eruptions
caused magma and lava to pile up, forming the Philippine isles.
