PRACTISE - EXERCISE 1: Complete the following sentences with “when” or “while”. Follow the
examples. (Complete las siguientes oraciones con “when” o “while”. Siga los ejemplos.)

Look! (¡Mira!)
ejemplo:
While I was watching TV, someone knocked the door. (Mientras yo estaba viendo la televisión alguien tocó la puerta)
I was walking home when I saw Steve. (Iba caminando a casa cuando vi a Steve.)

Marta: Hey Oliver, what are you doing?
Oliver: Oh! You scared me. I was distracted looking at these photos when you came in.

Oliver: It’s a giant otter called Dorita. Did I tell you her story?
Marta: No, please tell me the story.
Oliver: One day, while she was swimming in the Amazon river, some poachers captured her and sold her in the black market.
Marta: Poor thing! What happened after that?
Oliver: A teenager saw her in a restaurant when he went there to eat with his family.
Marta: As a pet?
Oliver: Yes! He called the rescue centre volunteers as soon as he arrived home and told them about Dorita.
Marta: What did they do when they found out about her?
Oliver: They went to the restaurant to rescue her. She was skinny and sad.
Marta: Did she recover?
Oliver: She recovered eventually after her wounds were tended by the volunteer at the rescue centre.
Marta: And then?
Oliver: When she fully recovered, the people at the wildlife rescue centre released her back to the Amazon river and they
waved good-bye as she swam away.
Marta: Cool story. What did you learn from it?
Oliver: That wild animals should never be pets. They must be free.
