Set Up Local Communication on your Computer to Monitor

1. Install the software from the CD – “DeviceInstaller” and “Redirector”.

2. Connect converter to local network, then power it on.

3. Launch “DeviceInstaller”, the window above pops up with the IP address shown. If the
“XPort” part is not shown, press Search button. Then click on Assign IP button.

6. Click on the IP address, then “Web Configuration” and “Go”. Click on “OK” button

7. Click on Serial Settings, select RS485-2 Wire and Baud Rate of 9600. Click on OK,
then click on Apply Settings.

8. Click on Connection, select TCP protocol. Set local port number at 14001 or
higher, i.e. 14002, 14003, 14004 … Click on OK and Apply Settings. Even if the
Local Port might appear not be changed, it actually has already been changed. So
use the new Local Port number for later configuration. After you finish the whole
configuration, open “DeviceInstaller” you will see the change has been updated.

9. Launch “Redirector/Configuration”. 10. Type in IP address from Step 6.

11. Click on Save and Close 12. Check created ComPort # in the
system by clicking on Control Panel

16. Disconnect PC and converter from local network. Connect converter to PC directly with
an Ethernet cable.

Problems? No communication?

1) Cannot see the converter on “DeviceInstaller”? Verify status of Local Network


connection. Cycle converter power. Wait for “Connected” status and launch
DeviceInstaller again.
2) Check wiring. Use electrical drawing enclosed with the monitor.
3) Check Com Port #, ModBus address and Baud Rate settings in the monitor and
software. Refer to Software Manuals if necessary.
4) Take off both jumpers from the converter
5) Reboot your computer and cycle power to the converter

For implementing BushingGard/converter in a network, you have to enter IP, Subnet Mask and
Gateway addresses obtained from the network administrator before plugging into a hub. In this
case, PC and converter should be connected to local network all the time.
